Ideas for elderly relatives

A little more complicated than the title says. It's for my grandmother and her husband. We don't actually talk, I wish her no ill will, but it's for the best that we are very very low contact.
We still recognise birthdays and Christmas, but no longer have much of a relationship.

What would you get them for Christmas? In previous years I've bought them cinema vouchers, restaurant vouchers, Hotel Chocolat gifts. They're shielding due to illness, but before that they enjoyed weekends at the coast in their caravan with their dog.

I just don't know what to get... Bath/shower stuff is out because of skin issues, scarfs apparently out as well (according to my mother) else I'd go matching hat/scarf/gloves for dog walks.

Any ideas welcome!

What about something for the dog if they happen to be really devoted (which they may not just taking a punt). You could do a hamper with special treats in a big jar, a neckerchief, toy etc..... you could either buy or Pinterest how to make them yourself.

Or for them a tea at the coast hamper, a mug each, special tea and coffee, posh biscuits, cake etc.

You can still recognise Christmas without buying a present. Just send a card.

If they are shielding I'd get some treats to enjoy at home.
Fortnum and Mason maybe.

I’d go a hamper route either buying some nice bits and making your own or have a look at Bettys they do some lovely ones at reasonable prices.
Another suggestion would be a bird bath and feeders so that they have something to watch in there garden since they are shielding.

My mother likes receiving DVDs and has a magazine subscription gifted by one GS every year. Would they like a calendar with pictures of the family on it? How about a shrub or flowering plant in a tub?

I did think about a hamper actually, thanks I think I'll go with that.

I know we can still recognise it without a present, it's just something we still do.
