Inexpensive hamper baskets?

Has anyone come across some cheapo/ not very expensive hamper baskets? I am loathe to pay £10 for a basket to house the items we are buying.

Anyone seen any cheaper ones or alternative suggestions for a hamper basket?

Bnm has some cheap ones last time I went!

I'm sure I saw some in B&M

The works are selling the cellophane in rolls, as do Hobbycraft.
Buy a nice basket from BandM or somewhere, and make your own with a bit of lovely ribbon.

I got a really nice mini laundry bucket style thing from tk maxx. It was £9.99 but definitely would use again for storing stuff so was more like part of the gift.

Wlko is showing them online too

Jeremyiron,

Yes, I have already got the cellophane from Hobby Craft. It was very cheap. I just need to baskets and shredding now.

TK Maxx did some great hamper kits last year - basket plus all the trimmings. I can't remember how much, but they weren't expensive.

Yes I found some brilliant ones through a florist of all places. I'll see if I can find the link. Inexpensive at about £1.80 each I think.

I bought some decent ones once and make them return them each year. No basket, no hamper. It is my son’s though😁

B&m had some which included shredded paper and cellophane. I think they were £5 or £6. An alternative idea is to buy a jute shopping bag from M&S or wherever you are buying the food gifts from for about £3 and use that as a fancy gift bag. That way it is something that can be reused rather than a basket which gathers dust. You can still wrap everything inside in cellophane with a bow, so it looks pretty, rather than just a weekly shop. Gift boxes are also a good idea if it a a smaller hamper (just put the lid under and leave it open). B&m had some nice boxes for £2 but not sure if they would be sturdy enough for wine

Saw some in Poundstretcher a few days ago.

I think they were £6 and were the basket (more of a wicker bowl) and the paper and plastic etc.

Could use a cardboard box wrapped in Xmas wrapping paper?

Needcoffeeimmediatley · 08/11/2020 16:10

I'm using these as hampers, at least they can be used for other things after Christmas

I'm not bothering with shredding, just a bit of tissue paper and cellophane

I do hampers occasionally and think the idea of a reusable shopping bag is genius!

I recently cleared out some wicker baskets and small hampers that we had been given. I used a couple of them again but not really. I had also bought from Waitrose a wooden trough. £5 normally but got some in a sale. It displays very nicely but again I dont think recipients managed to use them afterwards. They are fun to do though!

Card factory

The range gave some lovely ones for £4 and £6 with shredding, cellophane and ribbon.
