Present ideas for couples?

Has anyone got any ideas for gifts for couples?

SIL early 40s, BIL is 50.

No alcohol, budget is only £40 max

I was thinking of getting them a board game but I'm not sure they'd actually sit and play it together! We got them a hamper last year so could do that again but would ideally like something different!

Couple of DVDs and some sweets/popcorn.

Cheese hamper, with chutneys and crackers.

If they cook, a recipe book and some appropriate key ingredients.

Matching tea pot and two tea cups, with an exotic brand of tea.

Why can't you buy them each a present?

I have a couple to buy for too and veer towards food or house gifts. I’ve given a throw, duvet set, decent wok, tableware, candles and hamper.

Digital photo frame www.jessops.com/p/jessops/7-inch-digital-photo-frame-99870 or a non-digital multi photo frame
Personalised print from Not on the High Street. We gave my parents a watercolour of their house last year and they loved it.
Personalised map jigsaw
Tea pot and two marching mugs or a cafetière and two coffee cups

Vouchers.

What about a just eat type voucher for a takeaway, or a subscription service like simply Cook or Fresh.

Spacerader · 07/11/2020 10:02

Its hard if we don't know their tastes.

Lots of the things mentioned above me and dp wouldn't like at all. Like digital frame, tea pots, dvds, I jusy would never use them and would re gift immediately. Same for prints, they would have to be to our taste and even then I've no where to put them.

So what do they like? Maybe we can give better suggestions then.

Some of the safest would be just eat vouchers, vouchers for a restraunt (if they like eating out)
Food hampers can be good, but again i find at Christmas i have so much luxurious food in the house anyway.

Cosy night in style hamper? Dipping adventure by hotel chocolat is a must! Then other cosy items, eg candle/Deliveroo vouchers/slippers. Put in a hamper and write on the gift tag that it's for their own indoor cinema night? Assuming they have Netflix for eg?

If they are foodies, buy them a raclette set and some packs of raclette cheese.

My mum really likes to be given grown-up paint by numbers kits, she finds them very entertaining.

Ohdoleavemealone · 07/11/2020 15:37

Coverless duvet! Along with some treats.

Ohtannenbaumohtannenbaum · 07/11/2020 17:28

Thanks all, its difficult to give hobbies really! We get on with them well but barely see each other - there's a big big age difference between DH and SIL. Age difference is more like a parent and child really.

BIL works 6 days a week and likes tech but our budget doesn't stretch to any tech.

SIL likes crafting but other than that doesn't seem to have any hobbies. She seems to like buying nice things like nice bottles of drinks and food but then hoards it and doesn't use it almost as if it's for display purposes if that makes any sense.

The reason we were thinking a joint present is because although we could find SIL some crafting stuff we've completely drawn a blank on what we could get BIL for only £20, which is why I wanted generic couples ideas Smile

I like the idea of the cheese hamper, I think that will suit them best out of all suggestions!

I'd be delighted if someone bought DH and I the Hotel Chocolat dipping adventure and a just eat voucher!

crochetmonkey74 · 09/11/2020 12:04

I think me and DP would love something to eat - maybe a big box of all different chocolate or craft beers.
We would also love a voucher for Mand S or Waitrose - so we could go and choose nice bits for ourselves

PerditaNitt · 09/11/2020 12:29

Maybe some luxurious bits for the bathroom. A nice handwash and lotion plus a couple of plush hand towels. Neals yard usually do nice sets. Or we sometimes buy couples a his and hers shower gel from the white company.

WineIsMyMainVice · 09/11/2020 19:01

If they have kids, a voucher for a local restaurant along with a voucher for you to babysit!!
