What can my mum buy me for Christmas.

My 85 Yr old mum wants to buy me something special for Christmas. She keeps asking me what I want. She doesn't have loads of money but can afford reasonable amount, she would probably spend £40-£50 but would expect that to buy something substantial. I'm a bit of a foodie, don't need any toiletries clothes or perfume, would quite like a magazine subscription but she wouldn't like the fact that I didn't have anything to open. Anyone any clever suggestions?

I've asked for mine to sponsor me an animal through the WWF. £36 for the year and it does some good. And there's some change out of £50 so she could get you some slippers or something as a stocking filler too if she felt the need.

Tell her to get you the magazine subscription, it's what you want. I imagine you won't get the first one until January so she could buy you the December copy with a bottle of something/chocs whatever if you must have something to open

Sorry if you wanted new inspiration, it's just that my sister got me Women's Running magazine subscription for my birthday and I love it, it's great getting a new one every month, I personally think it's a great gift idea

Yes I love the food and travel magazine, the only issue is I have a generous MIL who has a knack of buying me something lovely that I didn't know I wanted and my mum ends up feeling as though she hasn't got me anything nice if that makes any sense.

I could also put some money to and get something more expensive and give it to her to wrap up. I did fancy a stag hurricane lamp, but they seem to be sold out everywhere.

Sunday Times travel mag is great

Some of the magazine subscriptions come with free gifts - would that make her feel good about it? Or a smaller extra gift related to the magazine (eg. running socks for running magazine, selection of spices or cookbook for a food magazine)?

My DD dropped a mega hint about how she would love an actifry for Christmas. Does that help?

I've probably got every cooking gadget known to man. It's not that I'm fussy, it's just she want to buy me something that I absolutely love not just enjoy or use.
