I'm stuck. I have an older DS, so we have train tracks, play kitchen, cars, farm. What can I get for DD for Christmas that's different dare I say girls stuff, because she's into everything the same as DS was at nearly one. DD also has her 1st birthday early Jan. Ideas and help please for young toddler stuff

While she is so young, if she doesn't need anything and she's happy playing with the toys you already have then don't worry too much (she won't even understand Christmas or her birthday). She won't be missing out by not having a heap of presents. Maybe some small toys to unwrap and other things she needs like clothes or something? My friend bought his DD a car seat for her first birthday Grin - she was already happy with all the toys she had and didn't even know what a present was so wasn't missing out! Plus family/friends gave them a lot anyway.

I’m in the same boat except dd2 will be 1 at the end of Nov, and her older sibling is dd1 so cannot even fall back on girl stuff.

I’ve been trying to think of stuff i didn’t get dd1 at age-appropriate times and regretted not getting after.

So dd2 has a grimms rainbow and activity table for her birthday, and for xmas her big present is a soft play-type steps and slide (she’s a climber) and some bath activity toys.

Dd1(5) is giving her little sister her old rocking horse that has been wrapped up in the garage all this time and is due to be taken out and dusted off and have ribbons tied all over it (entirely her plan).

Her stocking will include some practical things like bowls with suckers on them so she can’t throw them over the side, a cuddly toy that her sister mustn’t appropriate, and some toddler feely books.

@RubaiyatOfAnyone 😂 actually I've asked one of the grandparents to get a Grimms rainbow already. If she was a summer baby I would of got a small basic little tikes climbing frame, but I think DH won't be impressed if I install one in the lounge 🤔 So maybe your idea on the soft play type thing is a plan.

@Makesmilingyourbesthobby a basic dolls house might work just to put things in and out of. Thanks

@RubaiyatOfAnyone which one are you getting ? The little tikes frame looks cheaper 😂

Yes, it isn’t the cheapest but i justified it on the grounds that dd1 and she will play on it together endlessly as they both love throwing theirselves down things, and i am suffering mum guilt from the amount of not-going-out she has been subject to because of Covid compared to her sister’s babyhood.

I got the attached pink one from ebay for £130. It is slightly taller (50cm not 40cm) than most of the choices so i figured better long-term playing. And yes, i am resigned to our sitting room being a soft play for at least the whole Christmas holidays. I have a pop-up tunnel to go with it too.
