Millie - can you supply any more details about the turntable - CD thingy? PERFECT for my lovely DH!

donnie · 17/10/2007 19:53

last year I bought dh a day's cooking course at Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's place in dorset an dhe loved it. It worked out pricey though becuase he had to stay overnight in a hotel in order to get there by 9am!!!

maybe a day at the races? a day in a ferrari?

Budababe · 18/10/2007 06:57

Thanks donnie - was thinking about that as DH likes cooking but we live in Budapest so it may be difficult to organise. Will investigate something similar here though maybe.

Bumping for more suggestions!

And giving suggestions - just ordered 2 DVDs from Amazon - the new Michael Palin series and the Ewan McGregor/Charlie Boorman one. He will enjoy both of those.

My DP has the Derren Brown (hypnotist) book. He is loving it. You could get it on Amazon.

RGPargy · 18/10/2007 14:06

i have no idea what to buy DP!! I'll be having a baby around 27th November so Christmas is the last thing on my mind tbh. Then DP's birthday is on 30th December. WTF do i get him?!!!!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 18/10/2007 14:39

For his birthday next month I'm getting dh a tiny remote control helicopter - cost about £18 from Amazon, although have seen them cheaper on ebay since.

Fow Xmas I'm going to see if theres anything to do with paragliding he wants.

RoRoMommy · 18/10/2007 16:42

Hey Budababe, I wish I could come up with a suggestion to trade for the question I am about to ask, but as I completely messed up with DH's birthday recently, I cannot be trusted I am afraid...

So...what is budapest like in the christmastime? We're thinking of spending a week in either your city or prague...

Budababe · 18/10/2007 16:54

It's nice here at Christmas. May be very cold and may have snow or may not! Some Xmas markets on. For the Hungarians, Xmas Eve is their big day - although most homes will have decorations up the tree only goes up on Xmas Eve and they have a big dinner - usually fish.

Most of the hotels here do Xmas lunch/brunch.

Have to say I have only had one Xmas here as I tend to go home and the one Xmas I did have here I had all my family here so was a bit busy!

he will get a switch this year

lapsedrunner · 18/10/2007 16:59

BudaBabe get yourself over to Parndorf...not sure what to suggest you actually buy when you get there!

JARM · 18/10/2007 17:00

DH has just had his birthday and i got him series 2 lost (because he didnt see it all on TV)

I have bought him series 1 Lost and my dad is getting him series 3.

There is a DVD and Book he fancies so will probably get those too but from the kids.

Other than that - nothing. Christmas is for the kids really now, we dont seem to matter as much lol

BudaBabe - get DH to check before he buys a SatNav. I suggested DH buy me a TomTom for my birthday (sad I know), he baulked when he realised how many varieties there are. More importantly when I bothered to research on- line I realised most are loaded with the standard western europe map i.e stops at the Austrian/Hungary/Slovak etc borders. If you want east of Austria you need to be failry specific on model etc.

Budababe · 18/10/2007 18:18

I mentioned it to him last night actually (moaning that he might have realised that I was looking for ideas for presents!) and he said he has had a rethink and might buy it here.
