What to get a 3yr DD who has everything

She has everything. I get things second hand on Facebook sites and she's the first grandchild on both sides so has lots of 'big ticket' items such as scooter, kitchen, playhouse in garden, balance bike.

What can I get her for Christmas?

Im absolutely happy keeping it super low key as I hate lots of plastic crap and buying for the sake of it (hence my careful second hand purchases!) but what are some bits that I may not thought of that she will love for Christmas?

Ipad

My 3 year dd has siblings close in age so covered for big items most years.

This year she has Hubelino ( although plastic is not tat and will be used a lot, by her & younger sibling).
Jigsaws she is obsessed with them.

Jellycat soft toy are always a hit.
Playmobil ( again plastic, but well liked here, played with and passed to charity shops in a few years).
Books.
Games.
we try not to buy the throwaway plastic tat, and I am not keen on buying for the sake of it. I do like to get them stuff they will play with though, not just stuff marketed at them.

Dressing up costumes? Orchard games? Mud kitchen?

nimbuscloud · 02/11/2020 23:06

Paints, chalk. Huge roll of paper for drawing on.

burglarbettybaby · 02/11/2020 23:08

Totally agree with dressing up stuff. Doctor Police etc get the best use here
Wooden train set
Duplo

Mine are older now but these get loads of use.

Onedropbeat · 02/11/2020 23:11

Similar story here and 3 year old will be getting bits to add to their kitchen and some more playmobil bits

Not a lot this year because they don’t need a lot. Some nice books and clothes and it will be plenty.

With having large family they get overwhelmed as it is with the amount of presents they get.

Hophop26 · 02/11/2020 23:13

Consumable things? Eg playdoh, paint sticks, stickers, colouring pads, bath spray foam, bath bombs...

Books books and books

Anything and everything from Claire’s accessories is the ultimate hit with my Dds same age

fastandthecurious · 02/11/2020 23:17

I'm thinking of getting DS a dress up rail to hang his costumes on? Or maybe a nice personalised dressing up box with some costumes?

Brunt0n · 02/11/2020 23:24

Yoto player. DD (2) who has everything will be getting one for Xmas

BabyMoonPie · 02/11/2020 23:25

DD is 3 and loves Busy Books - about £6 each from the supermarket. They are plastic figures but self contained, don't take up much space and provide hours of entertainment

Etinox · 02/11/2020 23:30

Not an iPad! Hold off screens for as long as possible.
Can you build on something else she has or start a new collection? Schleich animals, Madeline dolls, fuzzy felt, sylvanian families?

TheMethodicalMeerkat · 02/11/2020 23:32

A two sided easel went down great with mine and various dns at that age.

A doctors/vets set.

I highly recommend kid knex. I’ve bought these so many times for 3/4 year olds (I have a lot of DNs Grin) and they’ve all loved them. Yes they’re plastic but definitely not tat.

nimbuscloud · 02/11/2020 23:35

Toniebox

Applesandpears23 · 02/11/2020 23:39

A parachute. We have a 6ft one and it gets lots of use.

GymSloth · 02/11/2020 23:39

If she's good on the balance bike, how about a proper bike?

Also agree with dressing up stuff or maybe one of those puppet theatres if she likes imaginative play?

FlibbertyGiblets · 02/11/2020 23:39

A Pikler triangle.

Stonecrop · 02/11/2020 23:40

A swing in the garden? I know it’s not really the right time of year for it but these are not normal times and it’s important to have reasons to just get out of the house sometimes

boomboom1234 · 02/11/2020 23:49

Duplo

1940s · 03/11/2020 08:52

Thanks so much for these brilliant ideas!!

I've got the same problem as my 3-year old has all of her sister and cousins toys handed down. Does your DD like non-toy gifts, like her own lunch box, new water bottle or kids flask, little backpack, cutlery set, wash cloth, etc? I would agree with consumables too, I'm going for plenty of art, craft, baking and sensory play consumables to see us through the winter. If you don't already have them then for us play silks/coloured cloths have been a great buy as all my kids play with them frequently.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 03/11/2020 16:17

A mud kitchen
Lego/Duplo
An easel and lots of interesting brushes, rollers, sponges etc
Brio trainset
A discovery set with things like a kids magnifying glass, books about her favourite animals, kids binoculars etc
Magnetic tiles
Sand/water table

joystir59 · 03/11/2020 16:18

Get her a pack of coloured crayons and some big paper.

TeenPlusTwenties · 03/11/2020 16:25

Craft
Duplo
Large hamma beads
Play zoo /farm & Sleich toys

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 03/11/2020 18:17

A huge hit with DS was a kids knife so that they can help chop with you. He’s 6 and it still gets so much use

Fresh01 · 03/11/2020 19:47

Aqua draw mat.
Jigsaws
Snap type games or simple Orchard games. There was one called Shopping List that was a favourite here.
