Stocking fillers 15 & 18 year olds....

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 02/11/2020 00:25

I’m hoping for some ideas for my two DSs stockings....18 and 15 year olds. 18 year old has a learning disability so I guess it would really be like buying for a 14/15 year old. He loves tech, music production, musical theatre, YouTube, home gym and working out...my 15 year old likes Xbox, Xbox and, erm, more Xbox...🙄 oh he has a fascination with Japan! Eldest DS won’t eat sweets, biscuits etc but younger one loves them. Shopping online ideas would be great, as I live quite rurally, so not near a big town or city with lot of choice! Any idea sharing very gratefully received 😊

Last year as an extra present for DS (who loves soaking in the bath) I filled a small gift bag with things I knew he’d use but probably wouldn’t buy, so - sheet face mask, blackhead remover strips, dry shampoo, under eye soother strips and other inexpensive bits.
I’m doing it again this year and have so far got - sheet face mask, lip salve, bath salts bauble and moisturising foot socks.
They’re just little bits that he’ll use.

@steppemum - thank you - am googling. I have found in the back of a cupboard a large stocking type thing - So I think I can get some presents in there & deliver it to friend. Oh , I know that at 18 yrs old some will say he should not worry about this , but he is suffering from depression and anxiety & also his parents have pretty much ( well largely ) abandoned him - so , given my friend & her Dh are also not in a position to spend huge money on him , I would like to help ( but even for me won't be huge money )

Thank you all. I am going to work out some nice wrapped up presents so that I contribute to a nice day ( but I will give to friend so she can give them from her and her DH ) I know some people say Christmas isn't the most important thing and it is only one day - I agree - but some little presents I think will cheer him up.

Thank you

Basilisk

@LightThatFire- that's a good idea - thank you - because said boy doesn't go out very often to e.g. Boots - so excellent idea - Thank you

Christmas is only one day, but for this lad to know he is loved and cared for on that day will be hugely important.

@BasiliskStare you sound so lovely! I’ve only read the first post of yours but wondered about one of those beanie hats with headphones in for when he’s walking the dog?
Thanks everyone again for your posts...going to read all of your ideas and make a list ☺️

Thank you all

I have bought him a men's thing from my little local supermarket ( Nivea - which on the whole is fine for most skins) so moisturiser , deodorant , hair gel and lip salve all in a navy blue toiletry bag ) all for £5.

I shall probably buy him a pizza cutter from bigger supermarket ( because I do know he likes pizza & it won't be expensive ) & then probably nice socks or a t shirt & I shall also google for a mug with his favourite breed of dog on it. & then Chocolate , and more chocolates.

One thing I will put in is a chocolate orange. My son is mid twenties and my husband is in his 60s - but they still get a chocolate orange under the tree. It's the law is it not ? Grin ( usually half price from Tesco )

Thanks everyone

Basilisk

@Basilisk - I read your comments earlier and just came back to say how lovely I think you are for what you are doing and how much thought you have given to this boy. As the mother of a teenage boy with anxiety and depression, I know how much Christmas means to my own DS and I am glad this other teenage boy has people looking after him and thinking of him. What you have mentioned in your last post sounds super and just right

LightThatFire · 05/11/2020 22:39

@BasiliskStare

What a lovely thing to do. Have a very Happy Christmas.

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/11/2020 23:30

Ds will be 17 in Feb. So far I have got him some chocolate bombs to put in milk to make hot chocolate, mini Lego, dobble, a manicure set as he has stopped biting his nails, socks, a Star Wars desk calendar, pens with his name on, a biscuit tin with his name on and a few smellies

BasiliskStare · 06/11/2020 05:14

@Pieceofpurplesky Hot Chocolate - brilliant idea - would go with the mug.

Thank you all for nice comments and suggestions. I am on the case . I do need to text friend to make sure we do not overlap Grin

I do have to say @RickOShay thus far I have resisted the remote controlled poo. But I appreciate the suggestion. Flowers And as Christmas gets nearer that may be a panic buy Grin ( I did not even know there was such a thing)

RickOShay · 06/11/2020 07:22

Don’t resist @BasiliskStare Grin
You KNOW it makes sense. All anybody wants for Christmas is a remote control poo.
I wish you all a lovely time 🎄

NC4Now · 06/11/2020 07:27

I always put a Starbucks voucher in a mug in my teenage boys stockings.

Oh @RickOShay - I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that. - but I admire you for the thought Grin Flowers

RickOShay · 07/11/2020 18:48

Grin I know, it’s bittersweet @BasiliskStare

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 17/11/2020 22:52

Ha ha ha...🙈 I managed to resist the speed poo! Just came on to say thanks again for all the great ideas 😊

@BasiliskStare

You and your friend sound fab...I hope her nephew is doing OK.

If you've not already found one...Photobox are doing 50% off atm...you could him a mug with a pic of their dog on for £8.48 including delivery.

BasiliskStare · 18/11/2020 13:46

@LasagneQueen - Oh - that's a brilliant idea - thank you . I shall get her to email me a photograph. Excellent. The only problem is she and nephew may fight over the mug ! I may have to buy a set - ha ha

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 18/11/2020 19:00

Don't have a teenage son, but something silly like selfie props, £5 gift card for costa or somewhere, scratchcards, favourite smellies/ styling products, travel card holder, usb sticks, card games, favourite magazine (fits in stocking if rolled up),

BasiliskStare · 20/11/2020 16:40

Thank you all - my stocking now has

  1. An Everyday ready kit - shampoo , hair gel , moisturiser in a case
  2. Mug with dog's photograph on the front ( ordered )
  3. Hot chocolate - not a fancy one, just Cadbury's but I think that will be fine
  4. Rather unashamedly regifted - but when I went once to the Chelsea Flower show before lockdowns bought these and so they are new in packaging so a) key ring and b) egg cup with chelsea pensioners on - quite cute & possibly useful or a decent breakfast
  5. I have some cosy socks on order
  6. I shall put in a chocolate orange ( I will do this for my son and for my husband - it is a sort of Christmas rule here )
  7. A set of pens
  8. more chocolate
  9. I might try to get a silly game to be played on the day

But ( & I do not know ) these are the sorts of things I would have put into my son's stocking. The point is not to spend a fortune - just more to have some unwrapping things to make the day nice

I reckon that is OK for just having nice things to open under the tree. I hope so

Thank you all for brilliant suggestions

Very much appreciated
Basilisk x
