Weighted blankets - experiences please

Am considering getting my DH a weighted blanket for Christmas - he suffers from severe arthritis which leaves him in agony when he wakes in the morning. He also has depression which is exacerbated by the continual pain he is in and his sleep quality is awful because of this. I have read these blankets help with anxiety and depression and help improve sleep which would be brilliant. Does anyone have any experience they could share. I'm hoping this could be the perfect present to help him feel a little better fingers crossed

I bought one for my adult son as he suffers from insomnia, he said it didn’t help him at all. He gave it back and DH is now trying it, he suffers from anxiety, which disturbs his sleep, he likes it but it hasn’t magically made him sleep any better. Both my DS and DH are similar weight so it was the correct weight for both of them. So in my limited experience it doesn’t work for everyone, neither of them have had any problems with it bunching though.

@puellanovella Not to worry - thanks for responding. I'm really surprised so many people use them. Thanks for all you responses, it's really helped me decide to go for it. Better sleep and less pain would be my DH's perfect present so I'm going to bite the bullet and give it a go.

I bought a Bell&Howell for DD (18) the larger size 15lb weight

She loves it Xmas Grin

It took a couple of days to get used to but she finds she sleeps better . She;d been indoors since March after 6th Form closed but started University in October so she had to get her rubbisjy sleep patterns sorted .

It's an all over constant pressure but more like being wrapped than weighed down.

I have had mine for a couple of months, it is 7.5 kg which I have found heavy enough, I don't think I would have wanted a heavier one.
For me it did take a few weeks to get used to, but I love it now, my sleep is much better.
The one issue I have is the cover. I don't like it but it seems almost impossible to buy replacement covers for them. You also can't wash the blankets themselves so really need a cover on it.

If your husband has arthritis I am sure you aren't meant to use them, I am sure I read that when I was researching for me, but check it out before you spend your money
