Stocking fillers for teens?

Lovemusic33 · 27/10/2020 19:32

Dd's are aged 14 and 16, neither very girly. Dd1 says "the stocking is the best bit" and this year she won't be getting a pile of gifts as she's getting a ipad, she has one other gift to go under the tree so I want to make her stocking amazing.

So far I have got her a rainbow bath bomb, watermelon socks, a ty beanie (she has collected them for years), some pop tarts and some hair bands, fidget rings.

I need a few more bits. Any ideas? She's quite young for her age (has Aspergers), doesn't like make up, doesn't go to Costa (so no gift card), likes gaming and fluffy things.

Dd2's stocking is similar.

You can get gift cards for buying console games. Other things my 13 yo DS is having in his stocking are pokemon cards, Harry potter key ring, owl rubber and pencil sharpener set, mini cereal boxes, magnetic hangman game. Also theraputty (he has ASD too and this will help with his fine motor skills). Sensory/fidget toys are also good for ASD kids. Always have chocolate coins, socks and a candy cane hanging on the outside.

steppemum · 30/10/2020 16:56

this year a really funny/funky mask too

love these threads, so many good ideas.

chocolate of every description goes down well.
hot choc sachets
mini marshmallows (for the top of the hot choc)
smellies (ds always gets lynx, standing joke)
both my dds are gay, so little rainbow stuff (dd is getting a ring)
hair colour/chalks
earrings
little purse
small key ring furries which go on their rucksack
guitar picks
chocolate santa sticks out of the top
pack of playing cards
dice (dd is into dungeons and dragons, so she collects D&D dice)

Speaking of rainbow stuff, my DD’s best friend was at a nearby boarding school and is from a Russian speaking country. After last Christmas I kept finding rainbow flags all over the house, in cupboards, behind book cases etc. Turned out she had gone wild with them because unlike her family I’m not homophobic. Happily she has a fabulous girlfriend now that she’s in Uni and teachers aren’t in contact with her parents.

I’ve bought Lindt metal keepsake boxes for my DDs this year, I’ll fill those with Lindor etc.

AdoraBell · 30/10/2020 18:29

That ^^ should have been unlike the extended family pressuring her to marry the men they have selected for her.

when dd1 first came out, she went mad with ranibow stuff. I think me putting it in her stocking etc somehow made her feel as if we were on her side. Hard to describe, but it mattered that I bought some for her.

Now going through the same with dd2.

Isadora2007 · 31/10/2020 13:35

@AdoraBell can I ask where you got the Lindt boxes please?

AdoraBell · 31/10/2020 15:02

Isadora We live near an outlet centre and they have a stand alone shop.

Well done Steppemum 👍 you are more supportive than this girls parents.

AdoraBell · 31/10/2020 15:35

KiposWonderbeasts · 31/10/2020 16:13

Lakeland do Hot Chocolate spheres - drop it in hot milk and stir; the chocolate dissolves and it's filled with mini marshmallows

I thought they looked fun and have them for my teens.

Dilbertian · 31/10/2020 17:05

Hot chocolate sachets (massive treats here because I never normally buy them).

Favourite snacks that you don't often buy (funny how I never buy Japanese rice crackers or licorice after the summer holidays Wink)
Stationery. Sensible stuff like Zebra pens that simply look fun and quirky subject postits for marking up textbooks, and bonkers stuff like fruit-shaped postits and light-up pens.

Everyone in my family gets funky socks and knickers/pants in their stockings. United Oddsocks are brilliant. Expensive, but they wear really well - 2/3 years. It's getting tricky to find fun undies, though, as one of the boys does not like trunks, and the silly pants are usually trunks, and there are rarely silly knickers in adult sizes.

handmademitlove · 31/10/2020 17:19

My similar 16yr old likes post it notes, chocolate stirrers, ty beanie phone holder, puzzle book, flavoured milkshake straws (!). I also put an attack alarm keyring in one year! Also my sensory challenged DD likes bluetak to fiddle with...

CountFosco · 31/10/2020 19:42

There's a lot of Studio Ghibli love here so lots of keyrings etc. Someone on etsy does cool Ghibli art so some of that as well. Otherwise what ^^ they all say. Oh, and a toothbrush, very important!

BaconAndAvocado · 02/11/2020 10:15

On that theme, I've just bought my teens some Moser Roth chocolate stirrers. They look very delectable.

Also, I bought some lovely smelliest for DD from Home Bargains including some intriguing Mango baths sprinkles!

BaconAndAvocado · 02/11/2020 10:15

Smellies not smelliest!
