What are you buying your adult children this year?

I find it harder every year knowing what to give my dd (21) and ds (19). They never have any ideas apart from some money would be fine. Vouchers for concerts, days out etc would of been good, not sure how this would pan out with the ongoing Covid situation. I find my daughter easier to buy for but my son, not so much. Both at uni daughter lives at home, son in halls. Any ideas would be great!TIA

Tbh one DS is into the same things at 24 as he was at 14 so that’s easy. Generally, I buy adult dc nicer versions of things they buy themselves and probably couldn’t afford or would see as real treats. Also knowing their interests I buy related items.

Successful Gifts last couple of years:
Good quality wireless earphones/EarPods
Fitbit/smart watch
Tablet
Charlotte Tilbury Make Up
Drunk Elephant Gift Set
Now TV annual subscription
Stojo Cup
Coffee Machine with milk frother
Overpriced gym wear
Overpriced trainers

What are they into? What do they spend their money on?

Thanks for reply RubyFakeLips. That’s a good idea to buy either better/more expensive versions of what they have. I should of said what they were into as that would of been more helpful.

DD likes spending time on her phone (too much I’d say), she can drive too, likes clothes, perfume, make up she is quite outgoing. Her bf and her have been on a few breaks/holidays before Covid which she liked. So the Charlotte Tilbury make up would be a hit. I’ll have a look at that. She has a part time job and tells me she is saving to travel In the summer once she graduates, depending on Covid etc.

My DS is into computers , has headphones, keyboards etc already. He has an electric guitar he took to uni, he already has an amp etc. He likes reading, he got a kindle for his birthday. He is quite reserved/shy. Not that keen on alcohol, he is studying maths and Computer science at uni and spends a lot of time studying etc unlike my DD. He plays table tennis, has a mountain bike but lost interest a bit, not really interested in other sports. He just passed his driving test in February. He is into good trainers though and jackets. I’m
not up with what’s fashionable lol.

Thanks again

Would he like some sort of smart speaker or fitness watch? Adult Lego, bought my DH some of the James Bond bits. Or things for using while studying? I would probably ask your DD for help on any clothes or trainers for him. Maybe even start a thread on here about gifts for computer/maths interested people. There are probably so many posters who work in this field who could suggest something you would have no idea about. It’s not my area at all!

Check out cult beauty and beauty bay for your DD. Boots have also started selling Huda beauty which seems to be very popular with my nieces of similar age. As is jewellery from the likes of Missoma , PD Paola and Astrid and Miyou. Maybe travel accessories, or perhaps More relationally for the coming winter, some nice loungewear!

Thinking about it, I’ve

My 18 year old DS wants the new Xbox but he will have that from me and his Dad (we are separated) and from my parents, he'll just combine all the money to get it.
In his stocking I've got:
Dior Eau de Savage spray
Ralph Lauren boxers
Hot choc bauble
FatFace badger slippers
M&S PJ's
A book
A bottle of mulled cider
Chilly's water bottle
Some chocolates (he likes matchmakers)

That will be it for him. I have always found him the easiest to buy for - my younger two are much harder!

DD turns 18 in November. For Christmas I am buying her a T-shirt with the slogan: I am not a psychopath. I am a high functioning sociopath. Do your research. She loves Sherlock. He crushes are Cumberbatch and Dillon from Casualty.

I will also get her some hoodies with skeletons or skulls on which she has adored since she was little believe it or not.

And some Lush bath bombs and an orange scented candle. Not sure what else will need to confer with her Dad as to what he is getting.

DD is 18 - so far I've bought her a Lakeland mini ice cream maker, going to look for a book of recipes to go with it. I've also got my eye on a jumper I think she'd like plus considering an Audible gift sub - she doesn't do music but often listens to audiobooks/podcasts (but need to figure out if she has a subscription already without making it obvious why I'm asking!) I know ex-H will be asking for suggestions for her so might suggest wireless earbuds to him.
