Homemade Christmas bath salts etc

This probably comes under more Arts and Crafts but hey it's Christmas themed.

For Christmas this year have thought of making things like Candy Cane Bath Salts, Gingerbread Scrubs etc and obviously attaching suitable Santa etc decorations to the jars. Is this a good or bad idea? I was also thinking of doing candles - would Christmas themed be best or just do normal scents - e.g. lavender etc?

Ideas would be appreciated - have found a few sites with the bath salts, scrubs recipes online.

Probably lavender would be better, but I’m not sure how much I would want either. I don’t mind homemade presents as such - if someone is sharing a particular skill.

Is it to save money on presents because I don't think it will, but If you are starting a new venture then good luck. I think I would prefer 'normal' type scents. You will probably have to bear in mind that people can be quite fussy with skin and bath products.

If you know your gift receivers really like bath salts and candles already, then maybe.

Otherwise no. It's going to be hard to charity shop home made bath salts which in a lot of houses aren't going to be used - don't take baths, fussy over bath products.

I agree, unless you know the receive loves baths and isn’t fussy with what they use I wouldn’t bother with bath salts.

I think a nice Xmas candle would be lovely though. My friend gave me some for Xmas once and they were really nice. As a Xmas lover myself I loved the scents but they were ‘normal’ enough To burn throughout the year (think one was creme brulee-inspired and one was apple-based but the packaging was festive).
