Making my own Christmas food hamper - Help

Crap crap crap!

Ireland are starting a 6 week lockdown starting tomorrow at midnight. It means I can't travel more than 5km from home. Even now, I can't leave the county, so my annual trip to Avoca to buy foodie bits is gone! I can't risk leaving it until Dec 02nd to find out where we'll be able to travel to (and I doubt we'll go from no more than 5km, to roam across the country), so I need to work out what to do.

Every year I put together food hampers for various members of the family. I get 'nice' bits. Not Fortnum and Mason kind of fancy, but not supermarket stuff either. Because of food intolerances and the fact some don't drink alcohol, it works well to build my own hamper for people, rather than buy a pre-made one.

So, Mumsnetters, can you help me please? I'd like to buy nice food things on-line. Where should I look?

Thanks for your help!

Not an online suggestion, but do you have a garden centre that you can access? Mine has loads of lovely foodie things, so might be worth a try.

Amazon does food, some of which is nice brands. Probs my more of a back up though. Local farm shops that deliver? Online organic companies (the type that do veggie boxes) often have a deli section. M&S now the deliver?

You could make chic truffles/sloe gin/crackers etc.

Choc!

Local farm shops or farmers markets...
Tintern Cheddar and gorgeous chutney would go down well here!

I use the local farm shop for fancy bits for Christmas but if we had a 5k rule I would be f*cked as there are no shops within 5k of my house 🤣, my local farm shops about 10k.

Amazon pantry have some nice bits. You could make some items?

Do you know someone over the border who can get a M&S food delivery - some lovely stuff in the food hall.

What sort of budget? I usually send a foodie gift to our friends family, this year to support local businesses instead I have booked her a three month treat box delivery from our local artisan bakery. £20 a month and it contains 8 treats.

Thank you all for your suggestions. There is a farmer's market once a week within 5km of here, so I'll see if that's still running. I might be able to pick some things up for that.

I'm also going to make some things, so that'll help bump up a hamper.

I'm hoping some local places start stocking more things, and doing things like those treat boxes. And what I wouldn't give for a Marks and Spencers!

Thanks everyone.

Hi there, I just seen this in the Irish Times today online, this might be of some use to you, I also found lidl has lovely Christmas themed foods, I don't know if you have a lidl close as your main essential shop to travel too.
