Any ideas how to wrap money intended for clothes?

The girls are of an age where they like to pick their own clothes so I thought I'd wrap up some cash each folded inside a tee-shirt each for Christmas day but wondered if anyone has any better ideas? Xmas Smile

Clear baubles (also on Amazon & ebay etc) put the money in, obscure it with tinsel/wrapping/tissue paper & get them to look for their ‘gifts’ on the tree?

lljkk · 16/10/2020 19:37

Money box, one that is a puzzle or lock they have to solve to get the dosh inside.

Put it in one if those joke peanut butter cans that a snake pops out when you open it Grin

Isadora2007 · 16/10/2020 21:07

I wouldn’t wrapt them up with clothes in case they don’t notice or you don’t notice when they’re opening them.
A puzzle box or something would be nice... or I like the bauble idea...

How about a new purse with cash in wrapped up?

ShaunaTheSheep · 16/10/2020 21:25

Google ‘origami dollar shirt’ for folding instructions Xmas Smile - you could do a whole wardrobe of cash clothes.

recklessgran · 16/10/2020 21:38

Box frame. Roll the notes into cylinders and place in small box frame. I've done this before for teens and included New Look and Primark gift cards. I guess it depends on the budget though. You could do it with £5 notes so would be cheaper than using tens or twenties.

In the past bought mine a couple of those books you can get with the pull out paper dolls and clothes with tabs and put the money in the middle of the book

lucysmam · 16/10/2020 22:19

Thank you all, much better than my idea (and less likely to end up binned!). I saw the fillable baubles in The Works and Poundland earlier on so might try those and see what they look like. & the origami wardrobe sounds fun, I'll have to google for "how to"!

Monkey that's what I was going to do for dd1's birthday - each note/coin individually wrapped in a shiny new purse!

Pair of Christmas socks with cash inside. Socks in a box full of tissue paper. Wrap box. Grin

BeaLola · 16/10/2020 22:35

Wrapped inside a cracker with their name attached with a tag - cracker placed on tree

Money is full of germs it should be put into a money wallet or money box not wrapped in clothes, have you heard of COVID !

BathtubGin · 16/10/2020 22:49

Get a bag of gold chocolate coins and a pile of £1 coins. Wrap them in cellophane.

Austereorange · 16/10/2020 22:53

Net of choc coins. Roll the note up very very thinly, push though the netting and let it expand. Then you have a net of coins and notes.

Love51 · 16/10/2020 22:57

@violetrosemummy I'm not sure if you are joking, but if op is planning the present now, I'm sure the money will have been wrapped far enough ahead of Christmas day to count as quarentined if was a person, let alone just a material.

ShaunaTheSheep · 16/10/2020 23:12

And surely you would get crisp new notes from the cash point for gifting?

SBTLove · 16/10/2020 23:14

What age are they? My teenage DD just requests it’s transferred to her account 😂

motherstongue · 16/10/2020 23:17

Last year at Christmas I took the cardboard ends off a load of party poppers, removed all the streamers and replaced with tightly folded different amounts of notes then put the cardboard discs back in place. I then placed them in a box which I wrapped. Great fun popping them all and seeing what note flew out. My DH thought I was nuts though and it’s a fiddly job. Lol.

thelegohooverer · 17/10/2020 04:15

Cut out 2 T-shirt shapes from brown paper and glue or stitch around the edges sealing the cash inside.

You could do a few different clothes shapes and use tiny craft pegs to attach them to a ribbon line and place them in a box so that they would be pulling out a mini washing line of clothes.

ShinyGreenElephant · 17/10/2020 04:25

@violetrosemummy thats hysterical

lucysmam · 17/10/2020 09:15

@violetrosemummy thanks for the concern but; I can grown up for myself & do think the risk from money that I pulled out of the machine yesterday & tops I bought last week will be very tiny by the time Christmas comes :)

The party poppers idea is brilliant; if I have some lurking then I may have a go at that Grin

SBTLove, they're 13 and very nearly 11. Actual money is still preferred by both atm so they can see what they have. I'm sure that'll change soon though.

My mum used to do a box of chocolates, open it , take out some of the chocolates and swap them for coins wrapped up then mix them all up again.

Obviously have a heads up to the parents ...

uncomfortablydumb53 · 17/10/2020 15:04

I've just put cash in an envelope and stuck it to a large bar of chocolate for my sons

Oysterbabe · 17/10/2020 16:17

Maybe now's the time to get them some kind of card to pay with and you could present that instead.
