So little to buy this year. Anyone else? Do you sort of miss it?

Firstly this isn't to show off because I now have soooo much time. Lol. My daughter will be 18 and I have my husband and will buy each one of my Brownies a special badge to sew on uniform or blanket etc.

In Christmas past DD would have had about a dozen gifts plus stocking and frankly she doesn't want this anymore. She doesn't really do expensive presents either. Slogan T-shirts from Etsy. Unusual market stall ornaments. She will get a handmade (not by me lol Etsy) watch/necklace as requested for her birthday in November. DH is harder to buy for. Books are top of the list. I have a few close friends but don't want to put pressure on them to buy

Is anyone else like this? And whilst I'm not rolling in cash I think I will sort of miss the running around and choosing things. Perhaps I will get something for the staff at the local Nursing home because heck have they been through some s*it this year.

Similar situation here. DS is 19 and doesn’t really need anything. DH is 60 next month as well but hard to buy for really. Books for sure. Nice whiskey.

We usually see my sis and her DH and children but I don’t think we will this year. Nor mil or my dad.

I do miss it. Find it much harder to get into the Xmas mood. Which is daft as it’s actually easier in some ways. I miss buying for children really. Used to buy for nieces and nephews but they are all older now.

I think it’s the excitement I miss. Christmas changes as a child and you grow up and realise FC doesn’t exist. I remember feeling flat about that for a while but had younger sisters so the excitement was still in the house. Then when DS came along much later I enjoyed the FC years.

It feels so different now. And I think this year particularly.

Yes, dd1 has just asked for money, I will get her a few silly things to open but not much as she just doesn’t use the things I buy (everything she does is online, gaming etc..), she’s 16 and has all the tech she needs. Dd2 is 14 and still likes Lego etc.. but we don’t have room for much more, I have bought her a Lego set and a few craft kits.

We have a few Covid safe activities booked but other than that Christmas is pretty relaxed and low key.

I kind of miss hunting down the most wanted toys and buying lots of tat.

Same here - my DS will be 21 and DD is 18

DS likes money (he saves like a little Gollum my precious )
DD has a Tradition that I make a Beauty Advent Calander for her ( it is £ but all catered to her rather than the ready filled ones ) It forms part of her presents though .

DS got a guitar this year ( 21st+Christmas combined ) plus amp and other bits .
DD usually has a gift voucher for Urban Outfitters or TopShop so she can choose .

I buy them underwear and PJs/robe .
DS pretends he doesn't like this but secretly he does Xmas Wink

DH and I don't buy each other presents it's usually if we see something we want then it's ordered (obviously there are limits . New book . Yes . New car ? Don't think so )
