I'm finding 9 a really tricky age to buy for

My dd is 9 and this year I'm really struggling on what to get her for Christmas. She doesn't really play with toys anymore and is more into virtual things such as Robux, which I'm very reluctant to spend money on.

She's into her clothes but everyone knows kids don't just want clothes for Christmas.

Can I ask what you are buying your 9 year olds this year?

My DD was 9 last year. She got a scooter, phone, new football boots, lego and a few other little bits. She got Primark vouchers of her Aunts which she loved and her Granny got her cinema vouchers and McDonald's vouchers.

Tricky age, I mostly went down consumable route too plus roller skates and dab radio

Have recently got her loungewear set that has become her second skin

My dd is 9, 10 just after Christmas and I was only saying to her dad yesterday how easy it is to buy for her, compared to ds who is 17, nearly 18.

Like most others her age my dd loves Roblox, specifically Adopt Me and one of her favourite players is called Meghan plays or something who is American and has a whole Merch thing going on and dd and loves her stuff called “the peachy squad” and has asked for the pencil case ( she collects them ) the backpack and some sort of art set which is around £150, it includes more but I can’t recall what.

She loves American Girl dolls so possibly one of these with a few outfits which costs a bomb from the US ( around £200 for a doll and outfit and postage/customs ) but hadn’t mentioned anything yet.

She loves craft and jewellery, so many ideas within this. Also books but we buy them anyway so not really a present.

Dd loves the hair stuff from Claire’s and the make up sets there too.

She’s getting her room done so could possibly get some pretty stationery stuff for her desk. She loves bling and Smiggle.

I could go on and on with her.

Mine is getting a kiddizoom camera and I've got a Horrible Histories board game and more Horrible Histories / Dork Diaries books. It is a difficult age, I agree!

mrsdavegrohl · 02/10/2020 19:04

My nearly 9 year old is getting a marble art set, lego Hedwig and a gaming chair for her desk. She likes baking and crafts so some small bits relating to that for stocking fillers.
Shes asked for a specific sylvanian families family (although rarely plays with them!)
Also shes obsessed with Moriah Elizabeth on YouTube so is getting some merch related to that

There is a 'Where' s the Noob ' Roblox book on Amazon.

Just don’t get her a pillow. That’s why DPs got me for Christmas when I was nine and I’m still bitter. It was a very nice pillow but still.

Nebulous stars - that’s the name of the nightlight/jar and card kits I’ve got for my dd and they do look lovely

I thought DD was over playing with toys last Christmas (when she was 9), so she got art supplies, books, etc and a small drone. She ended up being insanely jealous of her cousins and their tat! She played a lot with her Lego over lockdown though so really does still play.

No idea what to do for this year though! No cousins to be jealous of for starters. :(

thaegumathteth · 03/10/2020 02:04

Ideas based on dd

Tie dye kit and stuff to dye
Slime set
Trampoline
LED strips for her room
LED lights for her bike
Roller skates
Merch for you tubers who talk about bloody Roblox (except I buy copies)
Remote control car
Headphones
Phone stand thing

DD 9 here and she’s also into roblox 😬

Reading through the suggestions here and my dd already has most of the things. She has the panda Oodie which she loves! And a instax mini camera, tie dye kit have also been big hits over lockdown.

Iv bought so far scrunchies, Harry Potter lego sets x 3, a lounge set from new look, bath bombs, fluffy socks, some cheap fancy make up brushes from amazon, fluffy blanket, hair chalk.

We have a nintendo switch so I might see about a game for it although we already have a few and they don’t get played with a lot!

We are going to Harry Potter studios in December for a Xmas treat and Iv bought a mini Harry Potter back pack from primark, key ring shaped like the sorting hat, HP socks & slippers, sweets to go in it and give her.

Still need to find a main present. I will probably give her some Robux as well

IvyRose77886 · 03/10/2020 07:55

Roller skates could be a good idea but I don’t think they will get used

maxineputyourredshoeson · 03/10/2020 12:55

@mrsdavegrohl I can really recommend the ME books both of my DD’s have really used them loads. I admit I was a bit skeptical at paying for a drawing book with blank pages but I’ll hold my hands up and admit they are really good.

occa · 08/10/2020 00:36

My DD 9 has asked for a watch, a new bike and some camping gear.
