Grimms toys - why are they so expensive? Does my child need these toys? They don't even look that fun! Confused Shed some light please mums.

Totally worth the money, we’ve had hours of open ended play here and they’re still the most reached for toys!. Plenty of independent online retailers do savers clubs where yeh can spread the cost. Take a look at yes Bebe.

The rainbow, bought ten years ago, was worth every penny and is still enjoyed occasionally now.

molifly14 · 23/09/2020 13:33

We use the rainbow for everything. From colours and stacking as a baby not now using them as car tunnels and puzzles to make pattens and marble runs. They are very open ended and do grow with the child

Yes. Ours are still well used by 8yo and 5yo who have had them years. They are so simplistic in design but draw out the imagination in little ones. Our wobbel board is also regularly used and I love the idea of them being eco friendly. There are other brands of wooden toys for less but you won't be disappointed with Grimms.

They’re beautiful, and I believe handmade. I think we’ve become too accustomed to cheap toys made by some underpaid child or in a factory on the other side of the world.

molliejade24 · 23/09/2020 14:17

Okay thanks - which ones do you suggest?

How old are your children? The big rainbow is great but babies and toddlers seem to love the rainbow friends. I’d also recommend the basic building blocks and the grapat Lola set.

molliejade24 · 23/09/2020 14:21

He'll be 18m at christmas. We already have some wooden blocks so not looking for those, I'll have a look at the other set you mentioned, thank you.

If it's the rainbow you're after, there are far cheaper options available on Amazon (about £11). I'd love one but not prepared to pay £££

ComeOnEileen11 · 23/09/2020 14:36

@molliejade24 babipur has some gorgeous toys for open ended play. The Facebook page has some great ideas too. My DS is 2.5 and so creative already with his open ended toys.

OkyDoke · 23/09/2020 14:40

We love them, we buy from Yes Bebe too like a previous poster! Open ended toys really bring out kids' creativity!

Chocolatealllllday · 23/09/2020 14:43

I'd love one but they are £££ 😭

Chocolatealllllday · 23/09/2020 14:52

Sorry to hijack the thread @molliejade24. I took at look at that yes Bebe website and found a ten percent off code and free delivery so comes to £62 for the large rainbow. Does this seem an average price for it? And is this website a good one then (I've never heard of it!) My daughter is one not sure whether to wait or get one...
