Antique Christmas Lights

A few years ago I bought some stunning 1920s Christmas lights from an antique shop.. like the attached image but on an approx 5 metre corded strand.

They are so beautiful but so heavy and delicate that they don't really work on our (real) tree.. they weigh the branches down and I think they get lost amongst the decorations.

Does anyone have an idea of how we could display them? Such a shame to leave them in the box every year!

What about along a window sill, I don't suppose they are long enough for a window.
Or on top of the mantle piece.

Can you wrap them round the balustrades on your banister or if you have a through lounge drape them over the arch. Failing that drape them around your window.
Or depending on just how big the bulbs are can you get some large jars or vases and put the bulbs in in bunches so they look like this

I was going to suggest a large vase, although possibly it won't show them off to full advantage. What about wrapped around a branch either suspended from the window frame or along the window sill? I got a fab long piece of driftwood that I've kept to use for Christmas this year and planning on suspending nice baubles from it. Where did you get your lights from BTW?

They are pretty big and heavy and about 5 meters long.. they do get warm so would worry about having them coiled up. Unfortunately I don't have the sort of staircase that they could go up otherwise that would be perfect.. they need something that can take their weight!

Ah yes something like that could work! Just from an independent antique shop about 10 years ago.. cost about £100 and but the owner was really reluctant to sell them weirdly! The box has handwriting of every year they were tested and checked which is really sweet :)

I also have a set permanently on the top of my kitchen cupboards, they are soft white lights which gives a much nicer atmosphere than the awful strip light I have to have .
You won't be able to see the lights as such but you will see the glow .

They're beautiful.
I'd do as others have suggested and get a huge bell jar or something and put them in there.

These are gorgeous! If you have a large mantlepiece could you sort of weave them in and out of some fir / greenery.

I have my grandparents "sugarball" lights which are displayed in a glass bowl however I never dare turn them on for more than 15mins at a time as they get red hot
