Dolls House

I’d be really grateful for any recommendations for a dolls house for my nearly 4 year old DD.
We don’t really want to spend more than £150 - I’m happy to look on eBay.
Is it better to have a front opening traditional dolls house or are the Hape style more “open“ ones easier for kids to play with? I’d love to hear your thoughts 😊 Thanks in advance.

We bought the Asda one last Christmas and our DD loves it, she’s now 4. It’s really cheap too. We bought some nice second hand Le Toy Van furniture to go with it.

@pinksubmarine That’s great to know. Thanks. I’ve looked at the Asda ones and they are nice. Lovely that your DD has enjoyed hers 😊

We bought one from Argos last year for about £50 and it is very sturdy and has lasted well. It was this one and I have been impressed for the price.

We have the hape one, and I have to say, the chunky simple furniture and open plan style does not age well with the children. They love tiny detail etc which you get with the more ornate old fashioned ones (like the one PP has linked to).

Thanks so much to you all 😊 It’s really useful to get this perspective. I really like the argos one - great to hear that it’s lasted well.

We got this bundle because it had the furniture included www.woodentoyshop.co.uk/butterfly-cottage-dolls-house-bundle.html

We got the John Lewis one which was expensive but they usually have a 15% off event around Xmas time. It's lovely good quality and timeless.

Grandparents and other family members each bought a roll of furniture to go with it

We also mix and match with extra accessories off amazon - goki and van toys do some fun decorative bits

Playmobil!
There are many kinds of playmobil houses! Their website usually has good discounts when you sign up to a newsletter.
My almost 4 year old actually has my old playmobil Victorian house from when I was a kid and she spends hours with it.

She's also got a wooden dolls house with wooden people and furniture but she doesn't bother with it much any more.

My 2 year old has the wooden Peppa pig house
(Nearly 4 year old plays with it too) and it's very colourful and fun!

Another happy Asda house owner here!
Dd was 3.5 last xmas and loves it. We also got wooden outdoor furniture for it from Aldi which goes really well.
We have ours up on a kallax storage on its side hacked with a wooden top to make a wide surface for it and its the perfect height for her.

Keep an eye on Facebook marketplace and eBay for a Pintoy, Plan Toys or Le Toy Van one. They pop up frequently and are much better quality than Asda, Argos.

I managed to get a Pintoys one (same as the photo) with all the room furniture for £80 last year. It is fantastic quality and is huge. My DD loves it but it was definitely more of a present for me as it looks so beautiful in our play room.
