Hi all
Really struggling with ideas this year - my dd doesn’t really have any ideas and neither do I!

I’ve got her a Levi’s hoody that she wanted but hasn’t bought herself as she is saving for other things and some Morphe makeup brushes but really not sure after that!
I know she likes little things to open and as she has a younger sister I like to get some bits and pieces but really stuck.

Any ideas (big or small) would be great thank you!

@snowmanshoes have a look at the Mark Hill pick and mix hair styler from boots. You buy the handle and then different attachments to do different styles with, they do curling wands, mermaid waves etc and they are 3 for 2, around £17 each so very reasonable price wise.

Pocket sized battery pack for her phone.

Really handy for being out and about in case her phone battery gets low and a good safety item.

Something like this

Brilliant ideas on this thread, I've never heard of bubble tea before...does it taste like regular tea or more of a fruit juice?

My 14 year old loves her Switch so I will be looking at new games or accessories for this for her. She would also like her own straightners (and I'd quite like her to stop borrowing mine ha!), so thinking of this for her with some nice styling and heat protection products etc

Ah thanks for this - will take a look now

For her recent birthday, we got our niece a ski lesson at the nearby Snowdome. Anything (sports driving etc) they would like to try?

RedskyAtnight · 02/10/2020 13:50

This may just be local but the dot/line/spiral colouring books seem to be all the rage at the moment. DD has the Friends one www.amazon.co.uk/Friends-Dots-Lines-Spirals-Coloring/dp/B087FF96HV/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=dot+colouring+books&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1601642965&sr=8-7 They also "need" associated pens to help complete them.

bonbonours · 02/10/2020 13:57

My 14 old wants a graphics tablet but doesn't have a laptop to run one with so I'm not sure what to do.
Otherwise I like the idea of a light up mirror and she will get art stuff which is standard for her.

ScoobySnacker · 02/10/2020 14:16

I'm struggling for DD14 too. So far I have a hoodie and some VS pink body creams. She wants some sports books so have the Tom Daly life story. Aside from that some sport specific bits then I'm stuck. Its her birthday Christmas day too so a double whammy here !!

Whatliesbeneath707 · 03/10/2020 17:16

One year I gave DD a diary with experiences or vouchers in: Nandos, cinema, tickets to a show etc. It's something that you can do each year but make the experiences relevant to their age/interests.

My DD is just 17 now but has always really gone for lots of little bits and bobs rather than one big present: off the top of my head these have gone down well over the teen years:
Usb stick
Power bank (iwoot have them in their 5 items for £20 iirc)
Candles
Notebooks- travel journal types, ordered her a bucket list one this year
Nice pens
Vouchers for Costa, Starbucks, Prezzo etc. I convert my Quidco points to these
Wireless charger
Bluetooth ear pods (aurily on Amazon are excellent)
A light box
Song word prints/book quote prints (eBay Etsy etc)
Cushion
Pyjamas
Posh mug
Special jigsaw of relevant interest-had a Ravensburger one made from a photo she took on Regent Street at Christmas
Drinks coasters made from photos
Photo display things, frames, pegs etc
Pants and socks
Slipper socks (sock shop have gorgeous ones)
An Oodie
Favourite smellies - mine is a perfumista like me so have got her some sample sets
Books from series she likes
Mine is starting to show an interest in cooking so have got a Spicery selection and will get a cookbook
DVD box sets of old classics X Files, Merlin, Roswell, Dr Who etc.

@MrsWhites, thanks also for the tip about the Mark Hill styler.

Have you/DC used one before, is it easy to use? I’m thinking of getting one for my DD15 (it’ll be her first styling wand) but not sure she’ll manage it on her own and end up burning herself. Also I don’t want to end up having to do it for her - she has a lot of hair!

IggyAce · 07/10/2020 15:18

Dd is 14 some of the things she got got a recent birthday and has asked for at Christmas;
Pandora earrings
Alexa
Sheet beauty masks
Morphe pallet
Wristlet hand bag
Large scarf (won’t wear a coat with blazer so has large scarf for extra warmth)
Hot chocolate hamper
Cabin socks (joules or Seasalt)
Soap & glory shower gel & face wash.
Pjs

Whengodwasarabbit · 07/10/2020 15:57

Mine has asked for one of those blissy pillowcases, I had no clue how expensive those things were but wow. It’s all she’s asked for so I’ll get it.
I’m also going to get her one of those teddy bear duvet sets, they look so cosy.
I’m going to make her a couple of hampers, one a hair care, the other skin care.
A nice perfume, Some pjs and underwear from Victoria’s Secret, posh chocolates, a Christmas candle for her room and a game of some kind.
The bubble tea set is a good idea, I’ll add one of those now too 😂

Lovemusic33 · 07/10/2020 19:04

My DD’s are a similar age but not into make up or hair products. I’m stumped as to what to get them, eldest is into gaming and wants retro gaming things, neither of them need clothes, neither wear pj’s. It’s a really tricky age to buy for.

I had no idea what a blissy pillowcase was so I just had a look - omg, that’s expensive!
Feckmesideways · 07/10/2020 23:21

@bonbonours you could get an iPad with apple pen, and download an app called procreate for a tenner, it acts similar to adobe fresco and other drawing applications, without the price tag. Then if your DD wants to progress more, you can get adobe creative cloud, apps for photoshop and illustrator etc work on iPads as well as computers, student accounts usually work out £16 per month.

Londonborncatty · 09/10/2020 11:27

The bliss pillowcase is a great idea, but so expensive. JL do a silk p/c in lots of difference colours for £45. Might get this instead.
This is a really helpful thread for teenage girls.

Londonborncatty · 09/10/2020 11:29

Worth looking at the Anthropology sale. A few bits worth looking at. Birth stone hoop earrings reduced to £15.

Aponcetasticchristmastoall · 09/10/2020 11:42

I have posted this list on a few previous threads but will stick here as well...

I have an almost 14 year old and (quite cool) 12 year old and these are things that have gone down well in previous years or been bought for this year.

A Sonos speaker
Cool trainers (and socks apparently this year)
Mis matched earrings
Chillis water bottles (and stickers to decorate)
Books with strong female leads of non fictional books on inspirational women
Chocolate fondue set
Toasting marshmallow kit
Bubble tea kit
AirPods or equivalent
Pricier branded stuff to do with sport/hobby
Fiji Polaroid camera
HP sprocket
Fairy lights with pegs to clip pictures from on
Dot journals
Scrap book/journal type books
cool pins/badges for rucksacks/denim jackets etc
Fire stick 2 with Alexa for TV (Amen to Disney Plus)

(I also am not keen on buying things go do with appearance)
