Balsam Hill

I am thinking of getting a new tree this year & Balsam Hill have a sale.

For those who have one are they worth the price?

Does anyone have any recommendations or pictures of their trees from there? I like quite bushy, traditional trees.

Thanks 🎄

We have a 7’ BH Fraser fir prelit and it’s beautiful , we’ve had it a couple of years now and my dh was very sceptical when I first ordered it but he’s now converted .In the July sale I bought a 4’ prelit alpine as I need a tree for on top of a sideboard and that looked lovely when we checked it on arrival .

peachypetite · 05/09/2020 15:58

Yes absolutely worth the money!

Quackersandcheese3 · 05/09/2020 16:00

I got one couple years ago. It was my first fake tree in about 15 years. Really good quality. So convenient and comes with storage bag.

MyName007 · 05/09/2020 16:07

We have had pre-lit slim 7ft for the last 4years. It is still beautiful. Well wort it! Do not have any pictures of a tree without my DCs in them.

We bought one on sale last year finally to upgrade our old crappy fake tree and it's absolutely fantastic!

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 05/09/2020 16:16

we have one and it's decent
I think TBH the "sale" is all year apart from November and December.
We have a little house, so chose a narrow tree, and it's really well proportioned - I worried a bit that it might look too skinny. TBH I wish I'd gone taller

PrincessConsuela12 · 05/09/2020 17:17

Thanks all 🙂

I’m leaning towards the Vancouver Spruce or Canadian Blue Green but they’re all lovely so it’s hard to choose.

I’ll want to put it up as soon as it arrives, I’ll have to hide it 😂

How do the lights work?

I don't really know how to explain what I mean. Do they come from the branches or are they on wires? Do you plug into the mains like normal light?

peachypetite · 05/09/2020 18:17

I have the Vancouver spruce pre lit and it’s magnificent.

TrickyD · 05/09/2020 18:38

We have a Woodland Pine tree from Christmas Tree World, and it is excellent. Very realistic, it fools every one.
So good DS2 wants one too.
Much cheaper than Balsam Hill, and they have a sale on too..

PrincessConsuela12 · 05/09/2020 19:08

@sapnupuas I’m not sure if I’m entirely honest 🤔

@peachypetite ooh thank you for letting me know, it looks beautiful 🎄

@TrickyD thank you for the recommendation, I’ll take a look 🙂

@TrickyD I’ve just had a look, they’ve got some beautiful trees on there! I’ve actually asked for it for my birthday so I’m going to send my husband links to all of the trees I like and get a surprise 🤗

Wires are wrapped around branches, but you can hardly notice them. It is really well made. It plugs into mains.

PrincessConsuela12 if you click onto the ‘Gallery’ on the Christmas Tree World site, there are lots of photos sent by customers which give an accurate picture of what the trees look like in real homes as opposed to adverts.

sapnupuas · 06/09/2020 10:48

Thank you @MyName007, and for not making feel like an idiot!

PrincessConsuela12 · 06/09/2020 10:57

Thanks @TrickyD I’ll have another look. It’s always better to see customers ‘real trees’

Completely worth it. I got mine in the sake last year in mid December so swapped the tree in and the difference between the BH and my old M&S one was incredible.

PrincessConsuela12 · 06/09/2020 12:26

Thanks @Twilightstarbright which tree did you get? Did you have to spend a long time fluffing the branches?

foreverandalways · 06/09/2020 12:27

I picked up a brand new 7ft tree on eBay few years ago for 25 pound...looks fabulous

tinkywinkyshandbag · 06/09/2020 12:28

Yes we have one and love it, really wish I had splashed out the extra to get a pre lit one

Twilightstarbright · 06/09/2020 14:40

@PrincessConsuela12 I got a six ft Berkshire fir tree. I did spend a bit of time fluffing it but not the full treatment as I was on countdown during DC naptime!

Crazydogmumma · 06/09/2020 14:46

Think everyone has rushed over to the website- as it seems to have crashed! Grin

PrincessConsuela12 · 06/09/2020 15:13

@foreverandalways Nice, I’ll have a look on eBay too 😊 Thanks for the tip

@tinkywinkyshandbag they do look lovely, over £100 more though so I’m not sure if we’ll get one. Plus I got new lights last year...

@Twilightstarbright This is our first year with DD1, I usually take a day or so doing the tree but not sure I’ll be able to do that this year... unless I send her & DH out for the day 😄

@Crazydogmumma 😂 good Sunday afternoon browse. I’ve been on the website so many times in the last few days

Thank you everyone for all of your help

Can a tone tell me how much space they take up please? We don't have a lift only eaves storage so I'd need to see whether the box/bag it comes in would actually fit.

I'd be looking at a 6/7ft slim tree.

TrickyD · 06/09/2020 16:28

HoratiotheHorsefly ours, 8ft, is in three sections and came in a very long box. Long enough for our 13 year old DGD to hide in and scare her dad. To fit under the eaves you could lie the sections separately.
The diameter of the tree when erected will be in ‘product details’. Worth checking; we were on the point of ordering a 9 foot tree but discovered it would take up a huge chunk of the sitting room. Even the 8 ft one is bulky, but you should be OK with a slim tree .
