Do you buy your kids special dresses for Christmas? Thinking of doing it this year, though I have already bought their gifts. WWYD?

I've seen some lovely ones on ebay.

I’m not this year although we usually do. We’re going for sparky/metallic leggings and nice sweaters with fluffy slippers Grin

Lockdownhairdontcare · 29/08/2020 12:04

I usually do but DD still fits last years so that’s good. Can’t see us getting out enough to warrant a new one this year.

stackthecats · 29/08/2020 12:04

I usually do, but they wear them for such a small amount of time that I often get them on eBay or in sales!

You could have included this question with your one about elves. Hmm

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/08/2020 13:04

I did run this question past my eldest but as he's a 20yo Civil Engineer student he could see the impracticalities and I'd never find a nice one to toe in with his Hi-Viz (luminous yellow is a tough colour to match though)

So its a firm "No"

to toe in

tone in .

I did last years, as DD was only a week old. We (SIL and I) might try to get DD and her cousin (4 yrs) marching Christmassy dresses, as my 2 nephews (8 & 4) usually wear matching outfits on Christmas Day

BingoGo · 29/08/2020 14:26

Yes. Well my kids are only 1, but last year we dressed them up in little pudding outfits and will dress them up again this year.

Youzam · 29/08/2020 14:39

Yes! Girl’s trip to town early December to choose a Christmas Day dress, normally in Monsoon.

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 29/08/2020 14:46

Not a Christmas dress but I always get my DD’s an outfit as a Christmas present which they then wear when we go to my DM’s for breakfast.

KipperTheFrog · 29/08/2020 15:58

Yes. They DD’s wear them a few times through December, as well as Christmas Day. DD1 was still wearing hers into March! Hoping it still fits by Christmas so I don’t have to buy another one.

Bluewavescrashing · 29/08/2020 15:59

My DD only wears leggings and hoodies so, no.

ALittlePitchy · 29/08/2020 18:00

This is a tradition I do with my DD. Ebay is your friend. It’s second hand so I don’t feel so guilty and last year I got a gorgeous Boden one that would’ve been £40+ for £7! Already got this year’s, a beautiful Little Bird one, brand new with tags still on, for £8. Then I just sell it on.

Pipandmum · 29/08/2020 18:05

I used to get a pretty dress, not just for Christmas, but really how often do kids dress up? A Christmas party or two, a wedding if you're lucky before they grow out of it. I got my daughter a pretty silk dress on holiday and it was two years before she wore it to her brothers wedding, and hasn't worn it since (luckily she hasn't grown either, so there's still a chance she might)!

This is my first xmas with a little girl :) she will be about 3 months ish at xmas so I have bought a little dress. My mum found all my sons old 1st xmas type stuff the other day including pjs and hats (he was 2 months old at his 1st xmas) so we will use them as well.

The past few years we have done the xmas jumper thing rather than jazz up x
