Outdoor fairy lights - solar power?

Thinking about decorating more outdoors this year. I am keen not to increase my carbon footprint too much so I was wondering about solar powered fairy lights. Are they any good or does the UK just not get enough sunlight in the winter for these to work?

I have solar lights in my garden and it’s rare for them to work in the winter, and if they do come on they don’t stay on for very long.

Yeah. Sorry they can be ok in the summer but in winter you need to plug em in. Otherwise you get no more light than you would from a sick gloworm.

But it's only for a few weeks and you can set them on a timer so they aren't on too long

Assuming you are UK based, they won't work in the winter - or if they do they'll be really dull and only on for an hour or so.
Stick with LED and use a timer. Xmas Smile

We have battery ones and use rechargeable batteries, they have a built-in timer so that they come on every day for 8 hours from the time you first switched them on and the batteries last a couple of weeks.

I agree solar ones won't work. We do battery ones with rechargeable batteries too and have them on a timer.

Thanks everyone! Rechargeable batteries it is :)
