Ideas for a quirky child

Dd4 is a quirky little thing, obsessed with all things Halloween and keeps talking about making potions.

So for Xmas I am hoping to make her a potions kit, I've googled existing kits but then all seem to be aimed at slightly older children so does anybody have any ideas what I could include in a witches potion kit for a 4.5 year old?

I couldn't find what I was looking for eother. I made a potion kit with some dried lavender/ camomile/ flowers/ food colours / scented oils/ cinnamon and liquorice sticks . We added mini pots, pippettes and test tubes and some safety goggles and bought an oldy worldy looking chest from B&M to put it all in and made a label. Was a huge hit and still is 3 years on !

No ideas about potions, but how about getting a photo ball as a cheap crystal ball? I got one for my son at Christmas and if she’s good with not breaking things, they’re a lovely ornament and it was about 6.99 from amazon

Mines the same and we bought a national geographic stone polishing kit at Birmingham museum last year which they loved!

If you google Mrs Snowballs Bubble Boutique she sells bath bombs that come in a cauldron Smile they look very effective!

DD 6 yo has always had a Halloween and spooky stuff fixation too.

H&M is fantastic for clothes/outfits.

Potions - bicarbonate for bubbling/foaming, food colouring swapped into essential oil bottles with pipettes, white vinegar (mix with bicarbonate for a volcano like effect), can't remember what it's called but you can get a powder that turns water to jellylike substance, or yes which start as tiny solid balls, when you put them in coloured water they expand and turn the colour of the water.

You can print out Halloween bottle labels that say things like 'Eye of newt'

TK Max's usually start getting Halloween stuff in soonish and they have really cool quirky decorations and outfits.

Vinegar, washing up liquid and bicarb are good, plus a plastic cauldron and spoon, and pipette.

My dc like to have a lot of different stuff to make potions from - like different shower gels and liquid soaps, shaving foam, food colouring, bottles of flavouring like peppermint, orange etc.

You can buy little corked potion bottles on ebay, for putting potions into.

Red cabbage is a ph indicator. You can buy powder, or make cabbage water just by chopping and soaking or boiling. Then little potion bottles of things that are acid and alkaline e.g. vinegar, crushed antacid tablets, bicarb etc. Each one added to the cabbage makes a different colour.
