Bath sets and smellies for young boys

Hi all,

Last year my oldest son asked for some aftershave! At the time he was 6 years old. For christmas I bought him a Marvel gift set for kids that contained eau de toilette and shower gel. He loves it.

I am thinking of getting him and his younger brother some smellies as stocking fillers. This year oldest is 7 and youngest will have just turned 5.

Are there any smellies gift sets MNers recommend for young boys. They don't necessarily have to have kids eau de toilette in them, although I do think they feel rather 'grown up' wearing it. They have both recently taken a liking to having showers (both previously enjoyed baths).

I was looking at Lush bath bombs and toiletries. Can you recommend anything -Lush or otherwise.

Thanks.

My boys love Lush bath bombs, they do a rocket which is quite cool. Do be prepared for your bath to be covered in glitter stars though.

RedCatBlueCat · 19/08/2020 18:35

Bath bombs were a hit with my youngest when he was 7.
Not a gift set, but my oldest (from about 9) likes original source stuff - especially the mint one!

Argos have some Spider-Man bath sets for youngest down from £15.99 to £4.99, also toystory forky ones. Mrs snowballs bath bombs are a big hit on mumsnet, there are some really cool unique ones. I've just been to Asda and they do their version of lush and it's 3 for 2. They also had some cool bath slime for £2. Gelli bath is fun! And you can't go wrong with lush.

Mrsfussypants1 · 19/08/2020 18:41

Also the argos Spider-Man sets have bath crayons, bombs, slime, bubbles and more. Bought a couple.

KooKooKachu · 19/08/2020 18:45

Thanks for the suggestions. I will have a look at lush this weekend. Also my youngest loves spiderman so the bath sets sound ideal.
Off to look at argos.

They might enjoy shower steamers - a bit like bath bombs but for showers.

Bomb do some nice ones bombcosmetics.co.uk/shower-mixers or search shower steamers / shower bombs for cheaper alternatives.

KooKooKachu · 19/08/2020 18:50

Thanks SockMonster. Daft question, but do you just put these in the shower tray or bath? Or do you have to hang them off the shower head somehow? Confused

OP posts:
KooKooKachu · 19/08/2020 18:53

Oh, ignore me, I just read on the website they go in the shower basin.

OP posts:
TheSockMonster · 19/08/2020 18:56

Yep, in the shower tray, preferably to one side to make them last the whole shower.

AppleCinnamonSlice · 19/08/2020 18:58

Do they need to be ‘themed’ ?

What about some nice grown up shower gel? Or a good set of nail clippers, etc

Elouera · 19/08/2020 18:58

Linx spray? Some are overpowering, but there must be more subtle ones they can use for special occasions.

KooKooKachu · 19/08/2020 19:01

@AppleCinnamonSlice - no need to be themed, although this will go down well with youngest (anything to do with Marvel or Toy Story). Oldest likes his 'grown up' stuff so I'm going to have a look at nice shower gels for him.

My son loves the Lush bath bomb set which has a rocket and some other planet type ones in.

Grobagsforever · 19/08/2020 19:14

Seriously, we're gendering SOAP now?

Bananaman123 · 19/08/2020 19:23

My nephew loves bath bombs and play soap in a can (poundland im sure), he also wants aftershave like his brother so a david beckham set is good for him

Theseptemberissues · 19/08/2020 19:30

Zara do boys aftershave thats themed but still smells nice! From memory they had Batman, Star Wars etc and a few others Non themed ones for £7.99 (i think!) by the tills in the childrenware dept

Mrsfussypants1 · 19/08/2020 19:52

Nope! I bought grandaughter 4 a Spider-Man one.

IggyAce · 19/08/2020 19:53

Mrs snowballs bubble boutique has some amazing bath bombs and they are so much better than lush and cheaper too. Her I think she might still have some of her monthly boxes left, this months was superhero themed.

PigletJohn · 19/08/2020 20:21

If they like the smell, a good trick is to get several and alternate them day to day

Otherwise they will get "nose blind" and drench themselves in the stuff because they can't smell it.

Not really, I guess I just wanted the reader to understand that my kids are young as opposed to teenagers or adults. Plus the fact that oldest son likes wearing EDT, he probably wouldn't appreciate fragrances designed for females, though if he did like them, I wouldn't care either way.

Grobagsforever - seems a bit of an irrelevant comment when OP has made it clear the gift is for a young boy and given us an idea of his preferences?

I'll keep an eye on this thread for ideas. My son will be 7 this xmas and I was debating whether to go for a set with spray in or ot this year. I think partly cos a lot of places dont put tester sprays out for these types of sets, so though I think oh he might like a spiderman set I dont know what it smells like lol x

KooKooKachu · 20/08/2020 13:18

Yeah that's the trouble @cherryrainbow, there's no way of knowing what the pong is 😁. I think my oldest was just happy to receive some smellies for the first time. He got his last xmas and he still loves wearing it to this day.

There was an incident where 4 year ds decided to spray it all over his bed though. I wasn't happy about that!

Since when have toiletry sets not been gendered?
