Hoping some of you are joining my furlough boredom - trying to plan ahead to my favourite time of year and block out the fact I’ll probably be made redundant & have no money in a few months Blush Grin

I need some ideas for a Christmas Eve buffet... will be 6 adults, a teen and 3 toddlers... my kitchen is the size of a 2p piece but it’s Christmas so we suffer Wink

So far I’m thinking of a big ham cooked in Coca Cola... with leftovers for my Christmas Day buffet! Other ideas

  • Camembert
  • pigs in blankets
  • pate & veg sticks
  • small cheese board
  • mini Yorkshire’s with beef and horseradish
  • breaded prawns and dip
  • salmon & cream cheese belinis
  • mince pies

Any more ideas particularly for little ones? Ideas that can be prepped a good few hours or even a day in advance Hmm

Has anyone done a hot chocolate station? Or ideas for a dedicated toddler area? I am totally OTT but I love it! Lol!

Also Christmas cocktail recommendations? Gin

We always have little veggie spring rolls with the snacky bits.

Love this thread, home made sausage rolls and scotch eggs always go down a treat here. I might Notch it up a little and cook a whole meat of something ready to go into oven bake rolls for both Christmas eve and day buffets.
Am still searching for that Christmas cocktail, place marking!!
Great weather today for a thread like this!

Can I just see your pigs in blankets and raise you, honey & mustard/maple pigs in blankets? I use full size sausages rather than chipolatas. They always go down a storm.

If you like that, you'd love the hotel chocolat velvetiser-you could have a hot chocolate bar. If you're interested, I'd check on the bargains thread as there have been the odd £35 off voucher. They're expensive but worth it. You could gift it to someone/everyone in the household for an early present?! Ours is much loved by all & was a random gift to dh last year.

For food, cheese & crackers with chutney & you can't go wrong & it's easy.

Braised red cabbage could be made the day before & heated as it's better next day. Same with couscous & both veggie but go well with any meats. I love homemade coleslaw.

The Roasting Tin cookbooks has an easy & delicious corn in the cob recipe.

You could have things kept warm in a couple of slow cookers or use/borrow an air fryer for some chips. Everyone loves chips! Grin
