Christmas TV in the time of you-know-what

Didn't want to put the C word in the title because nobody wants to see that when scrolling the Christmas board!

The usual raft of Christmas telly won't happen this year - lots of specials have been cancelled and production was halted (or never even began) for a lot of the planned 'showcase' dramas and so on.

So, if there's going to be lots of repeats, what do you hope to see? I think it'd be the perfect opportunity to give a few classics an airing, including:

Bernard and the Genie (so I don't have to watch a grainy YouTube version this year!)

A Child's Christmases in Wales (the one from a few years ago with Ruth Jones in it)

Crooked House (the Mark Gatiss one)

Dickensian

All the usual Two Ronnies/M&W

Some comedy Christmas specials from my formative years - Open All Hours, Birds of a Feather, Hi De Hi...

And I would give ANYTHING to see The Clifton House Mystery again, preferably on Sunday afternoons.

Also I wonder what will happen with things like midnight mass on Christmas Eve? Me and DH round the night off with a scotch and mm - we're not really religious but it's a tradition! And for a lot of people who can't get out to mass proper it's really important, isn't it.

@CelestialSpanking

Does anyone remember a tv film called “The Greatest Store in the World”? Think it was on BBC. Be nice to see that again. Tbh I don’t mind repeats on tv at Christmas. I never get bored of only fools and horses, the snowman, home alone etc at Christmas.
I had forgotten about that film! I remember the premise about the woman living in a department store with her kids, but forgot it was at Christmas. Had a quick look and it's on YouTube if you want to see it again.

I'm fine with a year of repeats. My family have traditions around watching certain movies each year, and we don't watch any live TV, so will just stream whatever nostalgic stuff ends up on iplayer and All4.

I'll be sad if there's no xmas Eastenders though. It just won't be the same without watching people in total misery.

I'd like to see some blockbuster films and some ballet. I'd especially like to see this again, not least for the gorgeous costumes by Jasper Conran.

I absolutely don't want to see Only Fools & Horses.

Alex Polizzi did a great programme on getting ready for Christmas a few years ago with some lovely ideas for decoration, , I'd love to see that again, also the pre Christmas programmes Kirsty and Phil did for several years, There was also a very interesting programme a while ago about what wealthy folk bought as Christmas presents, I remember a guy from Yorkshire who used to travel down to London to see his clients, did he sell watches?

An old one I still remember was a Royle Family Christmas Special. We’d never watched the RF before so it was a revelation - so funny. My DM (no longer with us) was staying and she laughed helplessly until she cried.

A favourite catchphrase of dds’ for ever after to DM (in the accent) was, ‘Y’all right there, Nana?‘

I’d love to see that one again.

Years ago there used to be a tradition of really good ghost stories on (late) Christmas TV. I wish they’d revive it!

Some were def. taken from stories by the bloke who specialised in seriously creepy ghost stories - I forget his name but IIRC it began with M.
