Has anyone got any recommendations for wooden climbing frames? Not for toddlers, age 3 and up would be best i think.

We got a jungle gym one. Expensive but absolutely worth it. If you don't want to pay for assembly (£400+) then make sure you have competent and confident people to put it up. There are no drill holes or markings and you have to measure, drill and cut each piece of timber. It took us a week to put up Grin

@CrimeCantCrackItself when you say cut do you mean the timber doesnt come prepared? I assumed it would come like flat pack furniture and the wood would be cut to size ready to bolt together. I was looking at the jungle gym ones. They do look excellent

It literally arrived and most of it just looked like decking. There were some smaller bits but you had to decipher and then measure, drill, bolt and in some instances cut to size. We were also anticipating an Ikea style labelled flat pack job. That was not the reality Grin

The instructions were also written for people who know what they are doing. If you're going for a jungle gym (which I really would recommend as it's excellent quality) and you are not a handy man/in the trade/absolutely competent and confident then pay somebody to do it, it is a stressful ball ache.

We have a selwood one which we purchased during lockdown. It was really easy to assemble, all pre-prepped so no cutting or drilling of holes required, it took 2 people 3 hours. It’s very good quality, I would recommend.

We bought one from Dunster House as a joint birthday present for DS8 & DD3 in early March. It has been used pretty much everyday since we got it and definitely worth the price. It's this one but it's gone up in price since we bought it.

It came flat packed and took DH about 5 hours to put it together by himself (probably would have been quicker but the instructions weren't great).

Butting in to ask, can these wooden frames just be built straight onto grass? Does the ground need to be 100% level?!

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 10/08/2020 09:35

We have our on the grass in a garden with a slight incline and it’s very sturdy.

We have this one, and have turned underneath the climbing frame into a sandpit which they suggest. Had to buy some weed membrane, sand and cover on top climbing frame

Thank you!

We have a Dunster House one too.... expensive but worth it. Got it when DD was 7, still used now almost 4 years later. Ours is sectioned off from grass and is on astroturf - definitely recommend doing this.
