Where in your house does your Christmas Tree go?
Do you move your room around to accommodate it?

New layout in our house so Looking for some inspo and out the box thinking for where I can put mine this year.

Ours is in front of the window. We don’t have to move anything other than shift the tv over as you can’t see it from the sofa otherwise.

We’re in a new house this year. I think ours will go in the corner, next to our living room window so that it’s visible from outside.

We have a sofa directly under the window, which will probably need to be shifted across a bit to make room for the tree.

I also have a very slim tree that we bought a few years ago which I’m REALLY tempted to put in our kitchen diner. I like the idea of being able to see the tree when we’re eating. I know for a fact though that in the New Year I’ll be cursing myself for putting two trees up as it means there’s another one to take down Grin

Haha. Not dissimilar to me. I’m seeing if I can justify two trees but in reality I would also be miffed at new year with the cleanup

We have two trees, one in the lounge (I decorate / take down) and the kids' one in the dining room (they / DH deal with).

Theirs looks like Christmas threw up on it! Xmas Grin

Mine goes at my front window. Don’t need to move anything.

CrazyBaubles · 15/07/2020 17:13

Ours goes in the recess on the side of the fireplace, which means is partially visible through the window. We just have to move the dog bed over and there's plenty of room.

The mini one goes on the dresser in the dining room.

My dream when we buy a house is to have one outside my front door and one in a bay window and a little one in my kitchen-diner or conservatory

Wheresthebiffer2 · 15/07/2020 17:14

No room in the house - so we have one in the front garden, with "outside lights".

RestorationInsanity · 15/07/2020 17:46

We'll have one in the square bay window in the lounge which looks out to the front garden. The window has stained glass in so can't wait to see it shining with all the fairy light! And in the dining room we'll have one in the little snug area at the end which has a butterfly door and windows into the back garden (we'll have to move some fireside chairs for this, or if we don't noone will be able to fit in them!) Can't wait to have two trees!

I think it depends on your style of house. How old is your new house going to be?

Ours goes in our sitting room in the bay window but I have to move the piano which is normally there. Then to put that against another wall I have to move a large armchair. But that’s too big to go upstairs so nowhere else to put it. It’s a bit annoying. I could move the piano into a different room which I hadn’t thought of before.

Does anyone else have to move lots of furniture? In my last house it just went in the alcove in front of the window. Was so easy!

CarebearSt4re · 17/07/2020 10:04

My tree will probably go in my dining room at the back of the house. I do wish we had a bay window.
I agree that seeing christmas trees from outside are amazing.

We have 2 places the tree goes.

The window-corner of a large half-bay type window in the sitting room (which in the past meant moving TV and chair, but now just means moving a stool). But takes up a lot of light in the north facing room. But it does get seen from the front there. (It's an extended front shared with next door, semi-d's, so 1 side is 2 windows joining, the other has window going into the end wall).

Or in the corner of the "playroom" - large open plan room extended off the open plan kitchen/diner. Which means moving a lamp and the dehumidifier and a small chair (that often moves for us to use in different places anyway). The desk that was in that corner is now gone.

I could see the potential to put it in a different corner in the sitting room, but then having to find a place for an armchair. But that would be a less intrusive place for the tree itself, and a chance to light up that corner and not lose the natural light from the window.

I know the past few years we have moved a few things down to the storage unit for Christmas and returned them home when putting the tree and decorations back there. Just to make sure we're not totally cluttered up for the holidays.

And last year, I put a 2nd tree up (1 each in living room and playroom) as well as a swag on the stairs.

DH has put lights around the yew tree and branches of the silver birch in the front garden for the past few years also.

Normally i move the dog bed and use the corner of the living room so its right in front of you as you walk in. But due to wfh now i have my kitchen table there, which is good as so much space in kitchen now. So i will probably need to move some furiture out this year. I now have 2 trees and 2 sets of decs accoring to the tree so its a big dilema which to use lol

Also do a 3ft tree at top of stairs

Big tree in the window. Small tree at back of dining room.
