Looking at dinosaur toys as my 2 year old is obsessed. As he'll be almost 3 at Christmas I'm looking at the Jurassic world toys. I'd like recommendations from any parents of Dino fans at what's good for this age. I can then check out offers on the run up to Christmas.

@Scanner20 Matalan have a load of dinosaur bits in at the moment - I've just got DS a glittery dinosaur tumbler, a tray for when we do indoor picnics, a t-shirt, some flip flops, a Brachiosaurus shaped cushion and a dinosaur raincoat.

Obviously not all of that is for Christmas but he is dino crazy!

We went to an independent bookshop yesterday and got this Creature Features book and he loves it!

Also check out Dino Dino - they have loads of quirky dinosaur gifts including a colour changing dinosaur umbrella.

Thank you, we have those straw cups and they are good so a Dino one is even better. I'll have a look at the websites. I found a great triceratops night light on Rex.com and thought I'd get that for him.

My eldest is now 7, but we started buying Schleich ones when his little brother was about 2, and they have always loved them. In fact, during lockdown, they have resurfaced and been some of the most played with toys. The T-Rex is currently sat on my dining table, posed as though about to munch the sweet peas.

Smyths very occasionally have a 3 for 2 on Schleich figures, and the Schleich websites sometimes has some good discounts too.

I also have a ds who is dinosaur obsessed. He is four and my house has pretty much turned into Jurassic Park!
His favourite are the Jurassic World toys. They are surprisingly really sturdy. They’ve had so many ‘fights’ and no casualties yet. He particularly loves the super colossal t rex (it eats smaller dinosaurs and has a stomach flap to remove them) and the colossal brachiosaurus. They are in scale and are very big toys.
We have a lot of the Papo models and while they are really accurate they haven’t survived the fights quite as well. I’ve found a few of them have missing claws/horns where they’ve snapped off.
He is currently obsessing over the Smashers eggs which look like tat to me but I imagine I’ll be buying them for Christmas. There’s a t rex that smashes them open which he has taken a shine to.

I like the look of the Jurassic world toys. I will wait to see where he goes in the toy shop nearer Christmas. He has some of the vtech switch and go ones and he does enjoy them. He isn't in to toys that move though, he doesn't mind sound. I've seen those, bit older for my DS but maybe one day!

Check out www.everythingdinosaur.com/.
My daughter was obsessed with dinosaurs and I used this company for years. Customer service is first class and they really involve the kids by publishing pictures on their social media channels etc. Also send out factsheets with their scale models etc.

Ikea have some really nice large and small cuddly toy dinosaurs at the moment

At that age I bought my Gds a big rubber T Rex. I think he’d actually wanted one with light-up red eyes, that roared, etc., like one belonging to an older boy he knew, but after checking the reviews I knew it was far too breakable and wouldn’t last 5 minutes - he was still at the chucking and bashing everything stage.

He still loves that T Rex and it’s still intact nearly 3 years later.

Another he liked was a set of 6 (IIRC) fairly small soft toy dinosaurs in a zip-up volcano ‘house’. They would hide there when the big T Rex was coming to get them. 😂
Found both via Amazon.
