Should I buy a Balsalm Hill tree?

They are reduced until Monday. We've had a real one every year but now wondering whether to change to an artificial one that we can have for years.

Has anyone got one? Would you recommend?

I'm thinking of buying one, but not 100% sure how good they are. I too have always had a real tree. Out of interest which are you looking at?

Freshnewus · 02/01/2020 22:44

Really love my balsam hill tree. It's very thick and just lovely. Better than many other fake trees I've seen.

Pipandmum · 02/01/2020 22:46

They are very realistic if perhaps a bit too perfect (but they have new ones that are not like that). I had one but I sold it after three years as the kids wanted a real one. If you go for it do not get a pre lit one - I found the lights too bright and occasionally like to change the lights and couldn't. Also a big one is very bulky to store.

We’ve got a 7’ pre lit ( white lights) BH Fraser fir , it’s fabulous and by far the best artificial tree I’ve seen . I don’t find the lights that bright at all .

Dodie66 · 02/01/2020 22:49

Yes they are brilliant pleased with mine

I invested in a Balsam Hill tree after Christmas last year, so this Christmas was the first time we decorated it. I love it and will be sad to take it down this weekend. It has totally been worth it. We cannot have a real tree as my dh is allergic.

I don’t think they’re worth the money tbh . My sister has a beautiful one from a local department store which is much nicer .

I love ours. Gets loads of compliments. Is 7ft pre lit. It took a lot of fluffing the first year but much easier the second two years. Once you fake it you don’t go back...

I bought one after decades of having a real tree. ALL my wonderful friends are really not into fake trees so I've got no story for the decision andhave had to go it alone. I made the decision because I really hate the tree once it starts dying, the removal of decorations and clear up and disposal area a pain. I love that the fake tree is still wonderfully and fake green at the end of the holidays! I only bought this brand because the fake ones I saw in stores were terrible sense this is popular on mn. I'm happy with it compared to the ones I saw in shops.

Dinosauraddict · 03/01/2020 05:56

I love ours too - great buy (even though it was expensive at the time).

SlumMumBum · 03/01/2020 07:48

Thanks, all. I'm looking at the 7ft unlit royal blue spruce. It's reduced from £419 (Shock) to £229.

Might bite the bullet and report back!

Would definitely recommend pre lit. The candlelight LED not too bright. Really lovely and saves a lot of faffing.

Tara336 · 03/01/2020 07:52

I have one and love it, looks amazing and is much easier to put up and take down then our previous store bought tree, it looks a million times better as well

Dont feel the need to rush to buy your tree. Balsam Hill are similar to DFS - they have a permanent sale. I bought my tree from them one November with alleged huge discount, the same tree is still the same price with a different offer every week

Screamqueenz · 03/01/2020 09:02

I love ours, we got pre-lit because it's stops the arguments about spreading the lights.
And yes, there is always a bargain to be had, we bought ours in November in the sale.

marvelousways · 03/01/2020 09:18

I have just ordered a 6ft pre-lit Norway Spruce. We have always had real trees before, but like pp I get so fed up of it looking sad and droppy by the end of it all (and we dont put it up till mid december) and then the taking it down and the pine needles.....everywhere....for months! We have quite a small space to fit it in and Im also fed up of the dc insisting on a huge enourmous real tree that involves re-arranging the whole bloody house etc.... I'm hoping a nice, smaller, artifical tree will mean I wont be desperate to take it down by boxing day!

SittingontheSidelines · 04/01/2020 18:04

We got an 8ft Norway Spruce last tear in sale. First tear artificial. I love it. My only complaint is a little too

SittingontheSidelines · 04/01/2020 18:19

Sorry posted early , a little too prefect and I miss the smell. It was worth it though.
