What will you do differently for 2020

What will you do differently next Christmas?

I am going to be better organised and wrap as I go rather than wrapping everything in one go.

I have already decided to buy less, the kids love it just as much with fewer presents. I cut back a bit this year but am going to reduce again next year.

Instead of buying lots of smaller presents for family, I’m just going to buy one present for each person.

I'll have time to dress the house better, cook nicer food. We won't be going anywhere this year so focussing on beautiful house, log fires, fresh air, family. And more food Smile

So handy, thanks

Our plan was to go to my parents in Scotland this year but that is now off.

I hosted last year and was kind of banking on being a helper rather than an organiser when it comes to Xmas dinner. My mum is such a good cook too.

We have decided to have a chicken instead of turkey. I just want to hibernate for a couple of weeks with good food and lots of gin.

Recycled and recyclable wrapping paper

Buy local, independent, and sustainable

Buy less and definitely no filler gifts.

Remember the bits that really matter - time with loved ones and relaxation

Oh i was sure I was on this thread. But mabe not. Seems so odd reading it from last year.

My top tip- don;t let your 9 year old (who still believes in Santa) onto your phone. When they look up and say ' mummy what does this notificaiton mean... your amazon order or [x] will arrive tomrorow'.

pinkksugarmouse · 07/11/2020 02:15

No buying from amazon and shop with independent sellers and small businesses wherever possible.

Stop worrying so much about perfectly neat wrapping for DH & DD. They give me gifts that look like the paper & sellotape had a fight and I don't mind in the slightest.

Not making my own nutloaf this year. Yes it's delicious but I am arthritic and standing up in one spot for two hours straight on Christmas Eve (prepare ahead) isn't good. I need tramadol afterwards which makes me dizzy and sick. I never learn. 🤦‍♀️Eating toast is preferable to vomiting up even water on Christmas eve.

My cat is 18 and three years ago just before Christmas she stopped eating for days. She was poorly but the vet couldn't figure out why. Two days before Christmas I thought I was going to have to have her put to sleep. Then the vet tried a steroid injection and she was absolutely fine and still is now. Nothing is ever better than having my old girl with us for Christmas. Presents and wrapping and food became completely irrelevant to me, DD & DH. We knew what really mattered.

Shop local independent stores for presents wherever possible
Buy a big complicated jigsaw
Refuse to go out on for lunch on Boxing Day ( it's my favourite day , picky bits all over the place , no need to cook anything really )
We don't have small children , our 2 are both in their 20s , and we will have DS girlfriend with us this year , this will be a first !
