Just that really
Dh ordered jt - never checked - I just opened the box there to realised the colour item is completely wrong. What do we say in the morning when ds 11 wakes up?
(As far as we know he believes )

Wrong colour? Does it matter? What present is it exactly?
At 11 I highly doubt be believes. He's in high school!!!

FrivolousPancake · 25/12/2019 01:28

I’m sure he’s going to be so grateful that the colour won’t matter!

Apolloanddaphne · 25/12/2019 01:29

Depends what it is really.

midsummabreak · 25/12/2019 01:38

He will be fine about it, Make his favourite food and have a wonderful day. You can easily get around it, just make a joke such as Santa sometimes mixez things up in the Christmas rush! Let him know that you will go shopping together to exchange.

Raphael34 · 25/12/2019 01:41

What is it and why is the colour wrong? Is it that bad? I’d be surprised that an 11 year old believes

MutedUser · 25/12/2019 03:57

It will be fine I’m pretty sure he won’t believe at 11 I used to pretend at that age just to please my mum .

scatteredglitter · 25/12/2019 05:57

He has younger siblings.
I m not surprised if he doesn't believe but I ve tried to have the chat and he s not admitting it. So we are rolling with that. Which is fine, I think he just wanted to make sure he got the loot on the list,
We are not in the uk so he s not in high school,
Which is all irrelevant really, I don't want the game to be up for his younger siblings - his sister has had a tough year and is a bit more sensitive and really really wants to believe so I don't want it taken away from her right now.

It s a watch and he had chosen a colour but it has come in a completely different colour - pink which he will not wear so it does matter. Or rather that will matter to him.

father christmas can write a letter saying the elves painted it the wrong colour and he will send the right one after new year

Star2015 · 25/12/2019 06:28

Great idea user - in this case I can see why the colour would matter - think leaving a letter is the only option. Hope you have a great day!

scatteredglitter · 25/12/2019 09:33

All is ok, he was great about it, disappointed but when we said sometimes Santa has so many to deliver he gets the odd one mixed up, and sometimes shops will let us exchange Santa's items Wink if that happens. Younger ones didn't notice and ds was great about it.
Thanks for the reassuring replies.

Happy Christmas.

He sounds like a lovely boy. Merry Christmas!

Neighneigh · 25/12/2019 09:42

What a lovely boy, i hope my ds is like that at 11!

Apolloanddaphne · 25/12/2019 09:48

Ah. I am glad it's worked out ok. Hopefully you can get it changed easily for him.

midsummabreak · 25/12/2019 11:38

Glad Ds coping OK Its a big day and young ones hopes are high. Parents go through heaps over Christmas, not surprising a few mix ups happen! We've made our fair share too! Hope you have a nice break

SheShriekedShrilly · 25/12/2019 11:45

Oh, I’m glad he was so sensible about it. You’ve brought him up well!

And my dd (11, at secondary school) says some of her Y7 friends still believe (she doesn’t, but has been careful not to burst their bubble), so I don’t think it’s that unusual at 11.
