Colour-coded wrapping paper or a mixed selection?

I love wrapping paper. I actually have a collection of vintage wrapping papers from the 50s to the 80s.

Even got some of that fabulous thin stuff from the 70s...you know...horses and carriages, bells and so forth.

I don't USE it though! But in general, at Christmas I like to have a rainbow of red, green, silver, blue, gold...white...lots of different designs.

But this year, I only got one opportunity to get paper and the shop only had 2 designs that I liked...massive rolls...so I got those. Two rolls.

So for the first time ever I only have two different designs on my DC's present heaps.

I don't actually mind it! I didn't stick to one design each...they both have a mix of the two. But it looks quite nice.

I don't think I'll repeat it again but I was quite disturbed when I first realised.

I find colour coding per person easier for both giver and recipient. Plus you get to use more varied paper.

I do a few colour coded to sit under the tree. Once all the relatives have sent presents it will be an eclectic mess. I don’t dislike it though.

Kids get a colour each. Saves doing labels and prevents a mix up.

I also do one roll for each dc to save needing labels

I have one paper for Santa, one for gifts from us to the children, one for gifts to other family members and one for the presents I wrap for the children from other family members, oh and also one for the adults stockings. Then this year I bought paper gift bags as well for the table gifts (and used them for teacher gifts too). I really do like the organised feel to it, but I really love a bit of order to things.

I don't colour code, because I keep and reuse wrapping paper

I cut up Christmas cards to make gift tags, or just write on sticky labels

I’ve always done one colour for all family presents that go under the tree and then separate colours for each of the DCs. It doesn’t really matter now they’re older, but I try to create the illusion that FC uses different paper to me. Grin
Consequently I’ve got many many rolls of half used wrapping paper.
This year I haven’t bought any cos I’m using up all the stuff I’ve already got. I managed a heroic effort resisting the urge to buy matching half price rolls in Tesco yesterday.

Kids get 2 types each, and then 2 more for adults (including one I don't really like for inlaws!) Grin

I have a stash of half-used rolls I'm trying to use up. All different.
So our pile of gifts under the tree is a mix of kids style, elegant gold, tartan, shiny, tasteful brown, cheap, pricey, naff and more.
Much like the decs on the tree which are also a mash-up of loved randoms.

One day I'll potato print brown paper and use string to fasten. But I fear my wrapping paper mountain will last a few more years yet.
