Someone please just tell new how long to put this in the oven before I go mad. Google is not helping!
I have a 5lb crown from the butchers. They said bung it in the oven for 2hrs35 -2hrs45.
However I have decided to put streaky bacon across the top as that's how my nan use to do it. I figured the bacon would burn so I turned to Google but then that suggested either take the bacon off after a bit (don't fancy that option) or wrap in foil which also keeps the meat moist. Perfect. Sounds like the best option. But now I can't find out how long it needs to cook as obviously it will take longer with foil on.

Cook it until when you pierce the thickest part the juice runs clear. Start testing after 2 hrs and go from there.

Remember to rest it for 45 mins!

I'm planning on wrapping with towels and resting for an hour or 2.
I don't like the whole clear juice business though. I just need a time in hours and minutes. (and then I'll check with the meat thermometer)

It won’t take longer with foil on.

Foil won't make a difference to timings.
Put a splash of water in the tray then seal the foil all the way around.
Do 2 hours then keep checking it.
Take foil off for last 30 minutes or so to brown the skin and crisp the bacon.

Really? Well I never. I always assumed things took longer to cook with foil on

You could part cook it, and put the bacon on about 30-45 minutes before the end of the cooking time - it will have time to crisp up, but shouldn’t burn.

I always start it with foil on and water in the bottom of the tray, dries out if you don’t. Take the foil off just to brown it.

I'm following this advice as I've never cooked a turkey crown before.

Foil doesn’t make it take any longer. Just remember to take it off near the end for the skin to crisp up!

It doesn't take longer with foil on - if you make a tent of the foil and seal it in, then the steam inside helps to cook it and keep it moist at the same time.

Get some carrots, celery and onion add a splash of water or white wine. Place turkey crown on top of the veg. I try and get some softened butter under the turkey skin. Place streaky bacon on top of turkey. Cover the whole lot loosely in tin foil. Baste the turkey every 30 mins or so. Remove the foil about 30 mins from the end of cooking time if you want the bacon to go crispy. Use the cooked veg and cooking liquid to make your gravy.
