Books for 8 year old boy

Winterwarmer21 · 18/12/2019 12:53

Can anyone recommend books for an 8 year old boy.

He enjoys Pamela butchart, David Williams, Jeremy strong. Books which are relatable and funny he seems to enjoy.

Any suggestions?

I tried to get him into Harry Potter but he wasn’t keen. He wasn’t interested in watching the film but I forced the first film on him and whilst he did enjoy it he didn’t push to watch the rest. So I’m not sure if getting the books would be a waste.

It includes a wide range of tried, tested and approved-by-Mumnsetters recommendations, from classic tales to the latest five-star reads. We hope it’s helpful! Flowers

My 9 year old likes a lot of the same books too but also reads a few by David Baddiel, can’t remember the titles though off the top of my head.

How abut Artemis Fowl? genius boy, martial arts trained butler, high tech police fairys, gross humour goblins (not OTT but amusing for kids levels!).

Chris Priestley's Maudlin Towers books

My 9 year old ds is currently working his way through The Mystery of... (various titles) by Helen Moss.

They're modern day Secret Seven style books & are really good! There's 14 in the series & he's read 9 so far.

They're nice to read out loud as well.

Storey treehouse books (the set is cheap on Book People) and/or Tom Gates?

DS2 was a big Walliams reader and also loved Tom Gates at that age.

My sons school have printed out these lists for each year. Some of the books look great!

Thanks, some great suggestions.

I went for the Tom Gates books they seem similar to what he currently enjoys.
