I'm struggling to know what to buy my 16 month old DS. He can't walk yet but is showing the signs that he might start too. I want to get him some gifts which will have a bit of life in them. My parents have got him a toy kitchen and in laws have got him a meg blox table. Thank you!

have you got a walker? there is a nice wooden one going on wowcher here. also, perhaps a rocking animal? we had one similar to the one linked, which we got when my youngest 2 were 1.5yo. they continued using it up until age 3 so definitely worth the money

My girl is 17 months now and can walk keep yours sitting down whilst you can. She's having a note book (kid you not) as she keeps pulling mine out of my hand bag, some 18-24 month clothes, and a couple of drinking cups as we're trying to get her away from bottles.

She's also have reading books - mixture of board books and picture books, a little chair for her to sit on in the living room and a foam football. At their age, you could buy your DS a box of helium balloons or a bag of dried pasta and he'd be happy for hours. Think about what he'll need in the next year - tricycle? swimming UV suit? and get a mixture of things they like and stuff you need for them then you don't have to buy new socks / t-shirts etc. later in the year.
