Lapland short break recommendations?

I’m thinking about booking Lapland for next December, but I’m confused with all the choices etc. I think we would prefer 2 or 3 nights to a day trip, we are a family of 5 so ideally somewhere that has hotel rooms/apartments that can accommodate us all in the one room/apartment. Looking for any advice or recommendations really- who to book with, best area, hotels?

Not long ago we did it with TUI, stayed at Luosto in Finland, for three nights. It was all beautifully organised, ideal for children, with lots of days out to choose from: sleigh rides, snowmobiles, husky rides, amethyst mine. The warm outer clothes were provided (although you don't have them all the time, so you have to bring some too). The reps were friendly, usually dressed as elves, and great with children; and there were lots of opportunities to meet Santa.

As well as staying in the hotel, there were log cabins, with saunas, which could each sleep six people. The outward plane journey was fun too, with "Wow, Santa's landed on top of the aeroplane!", and interviews with some lucky children.

(It was also fascinating to see how a Nordic country manages snow much better than we do in England!)

@letsgomaths that sounds brilliant! I’m going to give Tui a call as I’m struggling with dates on their website. I’ve also looked at Hays travel so will call them too. Did you have to buy a lot of ‘special’ clothing/shoes or was your normal winter wear adequate for when you didn’t have their outdoor clothing?

We booked easyJet flights and booked a hotel room ourselves. We also booked some experiences near Rovaniemi. It helps that I am Finnish.

Funnily enough, we booked it by actually visiting the travel agent, rather than on the website. With clothes, we bought thermal leggings and vests, which are not too bulky; and other normal winter wear was fine mostly, such as walking boots.
