I want to get my mum something for Christmas... she's amazing, does so much for us and never asks for or wants anything so id like to show her that we appreciate her and spoil her a bit.

The challenge is, she doesn't have any hobbies, wouldn't do any experiences (so spa, making things, photos, meals out, weekend breaks or holidays are out), she has very specific clothing preferences and is impossible to buy for, has jewellery she doesn't change (sentimental things that she doesn't take off) so no jewellery and is cutting down on junk food/alcohol as she's had a health scare recently. I can't think of anything she'd want or need for the house either.

She's widowed and single, works evenings, has a dog that she adores but I don't want a gift to be about him or the grandkids. My only thought is maybe a healthy eating package type thing like muscle foods pre-made meals to help on her better eating but that seems a bit shit 'merry Christmas here's some vegetables'.

So, wise MN, what would you get a woman who has everything and wants nothing? Budget isn't too much of an issue for the right thing.

Cashmere scarf
Liberty print umbrella (or Liberty print anything)
Ummm...

Flower subscription with a vase to open on the day

How about some luxury cashmere pyjamas and a really lovely cosy throw for the sofa for these cold winter nights. Or would silk bed linen be suitable. It's very kind on skin and supposedly stops hair from frizz.

Or beautiful handcrafted handbag/ tote bag/ wallet set.

Good dog walking boots / wellington like a pair of Dublin river boots .

I got my mum a heated throw for on her balcony in the summer but she doesn't live in the uk
I want one myself but I can't justify it as our house is always about 23 degrees

She's got loads of bedding, I've failed at PJs before (exact same style as some she owned but didn't like them!). She's recently bought a new handbag so won't change it for a good while.

A purse could be good though, I got her a gorgeous Radley one last year but it was stolen- I'd forgotten about that!

The only useful thing that Chris Evans (dj) has ever said is that the best gifts for people who have everything is better versions of their everyday items.
So higher quality materials, more care taken in the design etc of things she uses regularly.
