Large cheap presents for 5yr old to bulk out the pile!

I have about £63 left to spend on my DD. Most of the presents I’ve got so far are small/medium sized and her ‘pile’ will be quite small as a result! (I know it’s not “all about the size of the pile” in mumsnet land, but I like the wow factor!)

Anyway, can you think of any large, cheapish present ideas for a 5 year old girl that will fit my budget?

Do you have the works near you? They often have 3 for 2 or 2 for £10 on big craft box things. Great at bulking out.

Blueberryblueberry · 13/12/2019 15:15

Have you got a tiger nearby? I picked up one of those table top air hockey games for about £15? They also had table football. They may also have similar on amazon. Not the reason I bought it, but it's in a fairly substantial box and looks fun!

B & M are usually good for stuff like this.

ExpletiveFairylighted · 13/12/2019 15:17

Stuff for her room, beanbag, blanket, cushions?

turkeyontheplate · 13/12/2019 15:18

When I was skint when mine were little I bought a massive inflatable shark, blew it up and wrapped it. they LOVED it

Nearlyadoctor · 13/12/2019 15:19

What about Playmobil - dd started getting into it about 6 yrs of age and it has such amazing play value imo. She played with it almost daily, lasts and has a good resale value.
With that budget you could get a big set like the large pony farm or 2 smaller sets, camper van and take along dolls house for example.
All comes in big boxes and has a definite wow factor.

peanutfoldover · 13/12/2019 15:34

Great ideas! Thank you!! Inflatable unicorn could be a goer!! Will check out playmobile!

Santa brought dd a space hopper one year for this very same reason! Looked great

Littleshortcake · 13/12/2019 15:39

What about a nice tent and set up little fairy lights ? Ikea are usually good and reasonable

I'm getting mine dressing up outfits (similar age). You could buy a little rail for them (agree b&m v reasonable)

Big packs of felt tips / large sheets of paper

PhantomErik · 13/12/2019 15:47

Dressing gowns & pyjamas wrap up quite big.

Craft stuff in a large box that can be kept & reused.

Blow up toys like monkeys/unicorns/guitar etc Space hopper?

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 13/12/2019 16:13

Aldi have huge plush unicorns i think they are £20.

JessicaJoans · 13/12/2019 16:56

The cardboard paint it yourself rockets / dolls houses etc from hobbycraft come in an ENORMOUS box - and are quite cheap

Twolittlespeckledfrogs · 13/12/2019 17:11

Get on Facebook marketplace. I got a brand new looking 5 foot tall dolls house for £50. Lots of large toys go for a good price because people want rid of them without having to haul them out to a charity shop or similar themselves.

ninjaturtlesmum · 13/12/2019 17:14

I bought Myla the make up unicorn for my nearly 5 year old DD for Xmas and the box is huge!! £35 at the moment on Amazon.

Just don't spend it?

SlatternIsTrying · 13/12/2019 17:37

Home bargains have massive unicorns (of the stuffed variety) at £10 ish.

SnugglySnerd · 13/12/2019 17:39

New bedding would wrap up big and be useful.

teenmumandsowhat · 13/12/2019 17:47

I agree that experiences are often better than just tat for the sake of it.

We made a massive decision this year as a family to cut down on presents and focus on quality and experiences rather than quantity.
So my DC are only getting one present each, and from their grandparents they are getting the opportunity to have a day out next year somewhere that interests them. Eg my DS loves trains so my parents will take him to a train museum.

Children will remember experiences far more than a mountain of ‘Stuff’

Lc2006 · 13/12/2019 17:58

Does she have a dolls house This one from asda is £40 and seems substantial. You will still have £23 to get some craft sets with

Or this horse stable is £24 on amazon at the minute

wellthatwasthat · 13/12/2019 18:12

Agree with the dressing gown, giant cuddly toy and cushion ideas, how about some wellies and an umbrella?

peanutfoldover · 13/12/2019 18:59

Thank you for all the ideas! Liking the dressing gown idea, hers is getting too small. Getting that inflatable unicorn for sure, there is a floats session at our local pool she can take it to.

Iceland are selling giant 1 metre olaf soft toys for £20. I've bought one for my little girl it looks great x

peanutfoldover · 17/12/2019 07:17

Found an inflatable unicorn in home bargains for 9.99, it’s 5ft tall!! Perfect.

Also bought a new bin for her bedroom which looks quite big wrapped up.

Also going to wrap some boxes within boxes!
