For the last couple of years we have had a Lidl Croquembouche for post-Christmas puddings, they cost around £6.99 but this year they do not seem to be doing them.
Tesco have an identical version but £15.
The same in Iceland - £5.
We bought the cheapie Iceland version, it has already been eaten and declared to be even better than the Lidl one as the filling was delicious. It comes, as do the others, with caramel and chocolate sauces plus sprinkles.
I think they must all come from the same factory, the cardboard cutouts needed to make the cone are identical.
I just don’t understand the price of the Tesco one, despite it being ‘Finest’.

There is a sachet of caramel to stick the profiteroles onto the cone, but extra never comes amiss. I also melted a little chocolate to dab onto each even though there was plenty of sauce. Hope you think the Iceland one comes up to scratch!
