Not having a 'main' present for DD2

We've got DD1 (16) an electronic drum kit from Lidl for £50 as she's just taken up drumming, plus lots of little bits & bobs. But we've only got the bits & bobs for DD2 (10) - some lovely silver earrings, clothes etc. When I ask her what she wants she never comes up with anything. She doesn't really have any hobbies though she quite likes arts & crafts that we can do together. Should I try and find a 'main' present, and if so, what?!!!! Thanks

My DD (9) hasn't asked for a main gift either, I've bought lots of bits and bobs for her but both her brothers are getting a bike each. I've asked if she wants one but it was a very adamant no. I've just spent the same budget buying stuff she likes. I'm in the middle of making her a harry potter box: pjs, t-shirt, socks, hot water bottle etc which I think she will love

I think lots of little bits are nicer. Sounds lovely.

Could you get her some nice art materials, a set of watercolour brushes and a canvas perhaps?

My dd1 didn’t want a main gift either, she’s 15. She’s has mainly clothes and a few fun little bits, she’s really tricky to buy for. She only asked for a switch game and some head phones which her dad is getting her. I feel a bit bad as dd2 has a main gift which cost £100.

Same here. Dd 6 doesn't want anything. I'm doing an arts craft gift box and a voucher for pottery experience. Also bits n pieces.

Ds 15 doesnt have a main gift as wants clothes and little bits, as long as its what they want don't worry

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 10/12/2019 18:38

could you wrap up some of the little bits together in a themed gift? maybe make it seem a bit more special, the earrings in a bigger box with a few balloons or something?

We’re the same with my dd (10). Lots of bits and bobs but nothing particularly big. Also no toys as such either- she’s grown up a lot this year.

DD never got a “main “ gift each year, especially in the last 2 years it was more about little things, she is 12 now.

She is a big Harry Potter fan and we got her the personalised trunk and fill it with several small gifts.

How about a 3D puzzle that you can build together? There's loads of options you could look into covering a variety of interests.

imsorryiasked · 11/12/2019 07:21

Could you get tickets for an event or a day out that can do without DD1?

Spinderellacutituponetime · 11/12/2019 07:29

Could you get her an arts-based experience?

DD 6 didn't get a birthday present other than a couple of silly cheap bits to unwrap this year. Her party cost an arm and a leg so we just managed her expectations. She doesn't know what to ask for and has has the same slightly random list of stuff she maybe saw an advert for months ago and we just let family decide for themselves.
