Hates smellies
Only plays one PC game and already owns it
And a PC
Has all the sports kit and clothes he needs

Would really not be joyous about socks or stationary or food gifts

Arghhhhhhhh

He’s lovely- not at all grabby and wouldnt bat an eyelid if he just got a T shirt and a big bag of Maltesers but his sisters and older brother se so easy to buy for and I’d like to be fair in what I get.

Has he got a fitbit?

savethecat · 08/12/2019 14:08

Stocking fillers are the easiest part for me!
I always have a bit of s system, similar to what I had as a kid:

stationery and books- novelty pens, notepads kind of things (colouring, quiz or sticker books when they were younger)
sweets- any novelty, choco coins etc
cookies- or this year a cookie kit
smellies- lynx set, bath bomb, last year a cool zombie blood shower gel thing
bits and pieces- the little games and things that I find
matchbox car - every year despite age
And for some reason always a joke around the toilet (no idea why, it just happened!)

savethecat · 08/12/2019 14:09

This year also has a chillys water bottle in there

savethecat · 08/12/2019 14:13

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

This just reminded me I hid a bag of stocking fillers somewhere and had completely forgotten!!!
(it has soap with bum and face on and the above reminded me).

A dartboard has been one of the best gifts we have bought DS, got it when he was about 10 , he and DD and friends use it a lot still.

Totally agree. I have one too, and like PP have said, it's not that they are spoilt/ungrateful, he genuinely doesnt want anything! He is an xboxer and only plays one game, has decent Controllers, headphone set and alexa. He plays guitar and bass, but has instruments, amps and extras from previous years. He is not really into live music, and doesn't go out much except for college.

I've talked him into a decent laptop as his current one is very much Not Decent. Hopefully this will see him through a levels and uni so will be an investment. Other than that, my purchases include a pasta maker (what is it about teenage boys and pasta?!) and a chocolate orange. I'm after some pjs and maybe a marvel t-shirt to unwrap. I've spent far more on ds but he will be opening much less than his sister.

Christmas stockings seem easier than main presents. My ds will have various edibles including mug cakes and American sweets, root beer, maybe some nice pasta flour. Also the ubiquitous lynx set. He has proper aftershave but gets through very slowly so no point buying more.

What about a mini photo printer?

HotSauceCommittee · 08/12/2019 16:46

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth, it's this one; https://www.wearedorothy.com/products/hip-hop-love-blueprint-a-history-of-hip-hop?gclid=CjwKCAiA27LvBRB0EiwAPc8XWZQZj3LX76BcHwwk2yrrvL27TWiF7prUvJAWcv7bvoWpFVC22XStRoCtU4QAvDD_BwE

I just got a cheap £10 plexiglass type clip it fram from Wilkes for it.

doistayordoigo · 08/12/2019 21:22

Can you link to the capture the flag game please?

I've bought things like novelty cushions for their room, this year I've gone for a marvel capt America shield one, previous years we've had photo cushions of the dog, emoji cushions and a pug one...they have the added advantage of being bulkier. Or what about a big beanbag?

Stefoscope · 09/12/2019 08:39

Keyboard hoover if he likes to take care of his things (and doesn't have one already).

AuntyElle · 09/12/2019 12:47

isitxmasyet, could you possibly link to the websites you found sorted things, please? 🙏🏼

Just did a desperate search for ideas for presents for teenage boys and this came up so thanks!

Anyone recommend where to buy fluffy dressing gown?? I usually buy boys PJs from M&S (because I'm lazy and always have bought them from there - plus comfy cotton) but not sure about dressing gown. He's a typical teenager and quite label conscious but, given we cannot afford designer, he doesn't mind as long as Nike / Adidas or similar. He'd be fine with M&S but just checking if any other recommendations.

LizzieMacQueen · 15/12/2019 14:27

Jack Wills but that's pricey.

I bought one yesterday (from Morrison's) reduced price £14. My son isn't bothered by labels thankfully. His PJs I buy from Boden though. Just because I know they'll be of a high quality and, unlike the dressing gown, will be next to his skin.

Stefoscope · 16/12/2019 10:29

TKMaxx often have nice designer dressing gowns; they're probably even cheaper than M&S!

Comefromaway · 16/12/2019 10:38

He reads constantly but we have always allowed him to order whatever books he wants throughout the year.

It's a bit pricey but I've bought dd (18) a Hatchetts subscription.

You can choose hardback or paperback, fiction, non fiction or a mixture. You get a gift certificate with instructions. The recipient has to phone the store and they discuss their likes, dislikes etc. Then the shop chooses a different book each month which is gift wrapped and sent to them.

Ds is difficult in that everything he wants is very expensive. Music software, keyboards, speakers etc. But it is all related to the course he will be studying at college.

drspouse · 16/12/2019 10:42

I got my DN who has just turned 16 -
Young driver experience
New bedding (she and her sister have just moved into a new flat where they have their own bedrooms).
Bluestocking badge (OK maybe not for a boy).
5 year diary (it's really just a line a day so even for a reluctant writer might be worth a shot).

I got my two DCs who are younger Willoughby Book Club subscriptions but this is also available for older children and for adults (I also got one for my mum).
