We are going away 23-29th December then having a New Year's Eve party at home, will get lots of string lights as decoration. Question is tree or no tree as we won't be home over Christmas? I always find the tree to be cluttering and usually take it down 2nd Jan, Dc are 13 and 11. WWYD? Thanks

It wouldn’t seem like Christmas to me without a tree so I’d put one up, but I love Christmas trees. They give a room a really cosy feel. We put the artificial one up last weekend and will go and buy our real tree this weekend. My mum always comes to stay with me for a week over Christmas, but she still puts her tree up every year.

Everything but the tree for me in this situation

CandyCaneLane0 · 07/12/2019 00:39

I wouldn't bother with the tree

I would still do the tree unless you usually don't put it up until the weekend before anyway.

In similar situations I haven't bothered with a tree.

I'm in the same boat. I have a grey flat twig tree to put on the windowsill. Last year I bought a real tree for 40 odd quid and only saw it for a few days. If you don't mind a small one, Sainsbury's have real ones for a tenner, which come in a plant pot.

Thanks all, I don’t think we’ll bother. Since dc we’ve always put one up so this will be a change!

@TheUnquestionedAnswer I’ve ordered one of those pre lit birch twig trees for a festive feel too!
