Help me plan my first Christmas dinner. What do I need to know?

Now, I know it’s just a glorified Sunday lunch but it’s the first Christmas dinner I’m doing since buying our house and moving out. I’m 23, I’ll be 37 weeks pregnant at Christmas so I want to try and prep and plan as much as possible to make it as stress free as possible.

It is just me and DP at home, it’s our first.. and now last Christmas at home as just us two so I want it to work :)

I’m hot on my usual roast dinners, my roast potatoes are voted beet in the family, aswell as my parsnips. I love cooking so I’m willing to give it my all.

But.. I’ve never cooked turkey Blush .. what’s the best way? Shall I just get a crown between me and DP? What temp, how long for, what do i season with ect? Tell me everything!

Where can I find chestnut stuffing?

How do I use goose fat? Do I use it in conjunction with veg oil for the potatoes or do I use it on its own?
Shall I still coat my part boiled potatoes in flour before roasting?

What time does everyone usually eat? How much prep do you do the night before?

Tips and tricks would be golden if anyone has any :)

Thanks in advance!

Have a look on Jamie Oliver's website. He has loads of Christmas recipes on there including how to cook turkey, goose fat potatoes, get ahead gravy which can be made in advanced etc. I used it religiously for my first Christmas hosting and have done ever since.

You can prep and freeze loads in advance to make it easier
If it’s cold out then can use shed/outside table as extra fridge if need space
Some stuff is more of a hassle to make then buy.

Make it the night before or earlier.
I’m making Yorkshire’s less than a week before & freezing.
Parsnips & carrots will be part boiled the night before.
Potatoes will be peeled & ready to be boiled.
Making the red cabbage side dish Christmas Eve morning, stuffing made ready to roast.
I also keep the table clear & set ready.

When do you set the table? Christmas Eve day/eve or Christmas morning?
