Inexpensive gift for 5yo girl

I need to buy a small gift for a 5 year old girl who I don't know very well. All I know is that she's apparently very bright for her age. I have almost no experince with children that age and am struggling for ideas. Also, it's just a small gesture and I don't want to spend more than 6/7 pounds. I'm thinking something crafty, but everything I've looked at (on Amazon) so far is either too pricey or not age-appropriate.
Does anyone have any good tips?

Dd is 5 and reasonably bright (imo!). We have bought her a top trumps game as she is developing her strategic skills - that may fit the bill? Can get the games in a wide variety of themes.

Plasticine still popular with mine,, a craft kit, a drawing board,

what is your budget?

SmallestInTheClass · 06/12/2019 14:46

Mine both loved notebooks and pens at that age.

SillyUnMurphy · 06/12/2019 14:47

Play Doh? My daughter loves it. Or something crafty

headlock · 06/12/2019 14:48

Stickers, cute stamps. Try hobbycraft

17caterpillars1mouse · 06/12/2019 14:48

They have since lovely, inexpensive craft kits in the range if you have one nearby?

ThreeLittleDuckies · 06/12/2019 14:48

I'd go for some pencils/felt tips and a dot-to-dot book so she can practice her number orders and colour!

morriseysquif · 06/12/2019 14:48

AHH, saw budget.

Felt tips or colouring pencils

Shopkins are also popular

A giant Squishy

Go to Claire's and buy some hair accessory or jewellery? Cuddly toy?

These are really soft and well within budget. I've bought the llama for a similar aged child

Amazon have lots of nice Galt craft/jewellery making kits around the £6/7 mark. It's my go to present for when DD(5) is invited to a birthday party.

inwood · 06/12/2019 16:23

Twisty pet?

SatsukiKusakabe · 06/12/2019 16:39

My dd loves mini Beanie Boo teddies and this evening Galt craft kits others have suggested

QueenWhatevs · 06/12/2019 16:41

Agreed, the Galt kits or some of the Orchard games are fun for children and secretly educational too. Widely available and lots in your budget.

AlwaysColdHands · 06/12/2019 16:44

My 5.5 year old loves Orchard games, especially PenguinPairs and the travel version of Snakes & Ladders - we always play this whilst waiting for meals in restaurants)

Wizotto · 06/12/2019 16:44

My DD loved sticker books, usually have them at The Works

Aycharow · 06/12/2019 16:52

An umbrella.

From memory, little girls usually get given enough crafty stuff and pens/stickers etc to sink the Titanic Grin

QueenWhatevs · 06/12/2019 17:02

My 5yo would love an umbrella.
5yo me would have been disappointed it wasn't a torch. I loved torches. Can you get a torch in your budget, for playing at being in the Famous Five? Grin

Mamibaer · 06/12/2019 18:47

Thank you all for the amazing ideas! I will check those out and see what I find

Or head to a charity shop and grab a pile of books. I do this for my dd (5 and a genius Grin); she loves it and most of the books I get are brand new.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/12/2019 22:04

I’d just go to the Poundland and do a little goodie bag for her.
Stickers.
Colouring book
Crayons.
large bag Sweets
a small toy, say a doll or cuddly toy.

RachelEllenR · 06/12/2019 23:58

Paint your own tea set, usborne sticker dolly book or something like worst witch books.

7Days · 07/12/2019 00:01

A beanie boo would be good.
If she likes it you can get her more for birthdays, Christmas etc for the next 3 years Wink
