Where do you buy your real tree from? And how long does it last?

We always get a real tree and it has to be just so. I've tried a few places: b&q, Homebase, garden centres and a tree farm. The tree farm ones were the worst but I think I was just unlucky. The one from b&q was obviously scented by a wild animal and stank like skunk 🤢
The tree is my favourite and most important part of Christmas so I want to make sure I get the best one possible.

Where have you found to be the best?

I took off about 1.5" from the trunk and left it outside in a bucket of water for 24 hours before bringing it in. I've set a daily reminder on Alexa to check the water level. It's sucking up about 2 litres a day!
We are decorating my mum's today 🎄

Always get ours from B&Q. Cut an inch off the bottom when you get it home, straight into a stand with water (it soaks up loads in the 48 hours!). Don’t put it near a radiator and keep the water topped up. We do this every year, only take it out on the 12th night and it barely drops a needle the whole time. We prefer our flat on the cool side which probably helps.

I see you are doing that. Under floor heating is a killer and warmth generally. Nordmann Furs are better than Norway Spruces.if you don’t want needle drop.
I quite like needle drop. Makes the vacuum cleaner smell Chrustmasy all through January! I also like the spikiness on Norway Spruces ( and they’re cheaper) but I feel I am alone in this.

I've bought one today from Lidl. It's in a pot, so I'm hoping to keep it alive until next year! The only problem is they're all netted, so you can't see what it looks like until you get it home. Fortunately, it's ok Smile

We go to a cut your own farm, go the first weekend of Dec (today), get a Nordmann and keep it till 12th Night. Put it in water, away from radiators in a shady corner as the low sun can make the room very hot if it's sunny.

Don’t buy a netted tree unless you can see they have a re netting machine,
Then you can open it up. Judgement is the best bit of real trees! ,

Oh dear lord I'd have an internal meltdown if I had to get a tree without seeing it first. I have to assess it properly, turn it this way and that, check the crown, the symmetry. It has to be just so. Not perfect, but perfect to me.

Crockford Bridge Farm near Weybridge. Its sells freshly cut, potted and cut your own. Or I go to a local farm. Put it up first weekend then down by Jan 6. The stand has a reservoir for water.

We go to a tree farm and cut our own. Normally buy first weekend in December and sonny lose a lot of needles before it goes around twelfths night.

Do remember to cut a bit of the trunk off when you are ready to put it up, and to water it regularly.
