I'm difficult to buy for.

I don't want:
Food of any kind
Books (I have too many, plus a full kindle)
Toiletries, perfume or makeup
Going out vouchers (can never get a babysitter)
Clothes (or vouchers for clothes shops)

What can people suggest me OH can get me for Christmas? I have no idea!

A really nice candle (I have hinted for another Jo Malone...), a really nice throw/blanket, a fancy picnic blanket (we have lots of summer picnics- but I don't have a fancy blanket), a book/audiobook, is there a hobby you like? I'd buy my mum really fancy wool and a nice pattern, I would quite like another running top or cycling jersey...

Most years I pick a new craft to try. I've had candlemaking, calligraphy, marbling, embroidery, and stuff for making cards. Sometimes I've had sets, sometimes just bits to get started and play around with.

Some of these have gone on to be hobbies (calligraphy), sometimes they were a fun one off (candle-making).

Nothing is definitely a good option.

Vibrator? Butt plug and lube?

I don’t really get gifts other than one from my mum (this year she’s getting me a hair dryer as mines on it’s last legs). I buy myself a couple of gifts but usually make up as I don’t wear much I only buy it once a year. If I had a list it would contain....

A house plant (maybe a cheese plant)
Mini greenhouse
Any novelty vegetable seeds for the spring.
Wax melt burner/melter and wax melts.
Lush bath melts.
Slippers.
Lens filter for my camera.
Voucher for a massage.
A photo canvas of my dog who I sadly lost this year.

Things I would like:
A print/painting to go on my bedroom wall (from specific artists)
A CD / MP3 download of the givers choice (always like to try new music)
A wool duvet (would love one of these but not something that I'd ever buy myself)
Really nice socks
A large and fluffy organic cotton dressing gown (planning to buy my OH one and then steal it when he's not wearing it Grin )

I asked for a donation to charity from my PIL! As I don't really want anything.

I'd rather the money went to a good cause rather than buying me stuff I don't need.

DH and I don't exchange gifts either. We'll go out for a nice lunch in the new year once the kids are back at school.

It might sound a bit joyless but it works for us!

Noise cancelling headphones
Apple Watch
Power bank

Dressmakers dummy

Something to make your life easier like a dyson or a dryer.

RagingBall · 02/12/2019 00:42

Thanks all - some good ideas!
I'm not really a "stuff" person. I used to hoard stuff, so the last few years I've made a real effort to cut down & only have what I need.

I don't really do jewellery & have so many accessories I'm trying to cull. I have loads of lovely candles.

I don't do experiences as health issues mean I can't exercise/lie still long enough for a beauty treatment. And babysitters are a touchy subject as youngest child still won't settle easily.

I'm also very busy & do t get a lot of downtime. If my present could be a housekeeper to do laundry/cook food, that would really help!

Do you actually want anything?

Sounds like your just getting something for the sake of getting it

BarbaraofSeville · 02/12/2019 10:27

Do you drink alcohol? A really nice bottle of whatever you like to drink?

Otherwise, just agree to just exchange tokens and then the problem goes away.

I suppose when your youngest gets older and hopefully settles easier, your default gift could be a meal out, day out, spa day (you don't have to have treatments and can just enjoy floating around in all the bubbly water or reading in peace), city break etc where he arranges the childcare too.

My recent presents have been good pairs of shoes. Expensive ones but they last longer and more supporting than the cheepo ones I usually buy.

GoodMPreply · 03/12/2019 11:26

COOK vouchers?

ShortHairSuitsYou · 03/12/2019 11:40

If your health issues are back related I'd really recommend a pair of MBT shoes.
You could get a voucher for a cleaning/laundry service if that's what you would really like.
They do them, so you can't be alone in wanting one ☺️
