Stocking fillers for 16 year old

Lovemusic33 · 30/11/2019 13:25

Stuck for stocking fillers for dd (almost 16), doesn’t wear make up, doesn’t like smellies or hair things. Trying not to buy any tat that won’t get used so all I have bought is Pens, pencils, chocolate, pants and socks. She says the stocking is the best bit but I think this year she will be disappointed as I’m struggling to find things. Any ideas?

Power bank
Pop socket for her phone
Small 3D jigsaw
Earphones

You’ve mentioned what she doesn’t like but what kind of things does she enjoy using/doing?

WillyMayhem · 30/11/2019 13:32

Posh foods? Vintage style sweets, posh teabags, coffee or hot chocolate? Cookie mix in a jar?

Reusable water bottle, hot drinks cup, bento box or similar

Nice daily organiser pad, stickers, postits, washi tape, highlighters etc.

Things to make her room nice - mini cactus in a nice planter; candle; fairy lights, mini bunting, photo frame...

Addsverisimilitude · 30/11/2019 13:37

Mine hates tat. I've got her: earrings, posh hot chocolate kit, a few books (second hand), a dvd, sweets, chocolate, a t shirt, socks.

Lovemusic33 · 30/11/2019 14:18

She likes food
Likes tech
Likes cats

Already had a power bank last year which she hasn’t used, same with stationary (just gets chucked an a drawer apparent from black biros and drawing pencils).

She’s really tricky as she likes novelty things but then won’t use them. I have bought her some jewellery but that doesn’t look much in her stocking, I will get her a book to bulk it out a bit. Her dads getting her head phones and she’s just had a new phone cable.

Cat washi tape - they have some in Hobbycraft
Cat mug or socks
Primark has a cute cat purse

clary · 30/11/2019 14:25

My dd is 18 but also no make up. She's getting:
DVD
Frozen 2 stuff
Can of fave Pringles
Scratch card or lottery ticket
Friends trivial pursuit
1000 pc Jigsaw (from charity shop, we do them together)
Fancy lip balm
Calendar

Any good?

susso · 30/11/2019 14:28

A reusable water bottle (one of the metal flask ones) they're really useful and my niece loves hers, all her friends at school have one too!

She has a 'chillys' one which is a bit on the pricy side for a water bottle (20-30 pounds) but she does get her use out of it so a good investment for us 😁. But you can get ones that are just as good on Amazon for a lot less, and apparently Wilko's ones are really similar and they do some lovely designs think they're around 5-10 pounds.

Also you said she likes cats, do you have a cat cafe close to you? We have one in near me and you can go in and have a coffee and stroke all the cats etc... about 8 pound per ticket- could be a nice stocking filler surprise 😁

Other things could include, a purse (primark do lots of cat things), a nice piggy bank for saving? EOS lip balms are quite nice presents (cheap in savers) scarf, hat, gloves, slippers?? Little handbag, hair brush, lush bath bombs or other lush products are always a winner in our family too.

Hope that helps! X

susso · 30/11/2019 14:31

Oops didn't read the bit about smellys! So lush stuff might not be the best! But other stuff still she might enjoy 😁

Really good quality tool kit like a Wera one in a zip wallet with a few sockets and few tools. I got my DS the Wera advent a couple of years ago and he loves it.

Tate shop has fun arty socks
Percy pigs fromM&S
Small leather holder for headphones
Nail kit
Wooden whale phone holder from
Waterstones
Acrylic earrings - lots of animal shapes around

Lovemusic33 · 30/11/2019 14:47

Thank you, some great ideas. My other dd would love the tool kit as she keeps pinching mine.

She doesn’t have her ears pierced which is a shame (she refuses to get them done).

Have ordered her some rainbow socks as she’s into “pride”. Will also find her a reusable water bottle which will bulk things out a bit. Also just ordered her David Cameron’s book which she has asked for (she’s very left wing but wants to read David’s book 🤣).

Lottery tickets go down well here, reed diffuser, long hot water bottle, badges, decal for laptop, tile keyfob, earbuds, Costa voucher, mindful journal, squishie stress toy, pot noodle, cute plasters

Redcrayons · 30/11/2019 20:53

Marking my place for some ideas.
Anyone else miss the days when they were small and the Christmas list was most of the Argos catalogue?

RickOShay · 01/12/2019 07:32

I’m eyeing up a bubble tea making kit for 17 yo dd at the moment, it’s on Etsy at £6.99 I think.
Other things I’ve bought are
A ring from Honu, they are an ethical company involved in ocean clean up, nice turtle ring.
Sponge bag with flannel, tweezers and travel toothbrush, always handy.
Wallet ninja
Mug with notable women from Present Indicative
Inspirational quote book, I got that last year, she did mock me for that Grin. She’s more human now!
Posters, bands, like the Foo Fighters.
Rainbow fingerless gloves
Rainbow post it notes
Pastel highlighters, so pleased with these and then she bloody bought herself some. Still going in the stocking though.
Nice lined notebook to pour out her angst.
Packet of mocha sachets.
Waving chinese lucky cat from eBay.
I can’t, I’ve got plans with my cat T shirt. You need to have a cat for this Grin
Vegan marshmallows
Flower pen
Body shop moisturiser
Fluffy socks
Think that’s about it. Hope it helps.

RickOShay · 01/12/2019 07:34

@Redcrayons
Yes!! It got to the point where I’d say mark what you DONT want Grin

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 01/12/2019 07:41

Some fab ideas here that I'm stealing!

So far we haven't got much -
DVD
Personalised Vaseline lip tin
Bob Ross funko pop doll
Book that she probably won't read
Left handed pens
Chocolate

SnowsInWater · 01/12/2019 08:11

Cinema vouchers
Keep cup
Kiki k pens
Knickers

Nousernameforme · 01/12/2019 08:20

I'm getting my 17 yo dd an old ps2 game she used to play. Picked it up for about 3 pound second hand. It will bring back.memories and we still have the console

Bobmcbob · 01/12/2019 10:55

www.amazon.co.uk/Meowing-Pencil-Sharpener-Novelty-Gadget/dp/B003N4UWJE/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=cat+pencil+sharpener&sprefix=cat+pen&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1575197606&sr=8-3

I’ve bought this before - cat pencil sharpener where you put the pencil in his bum hole and it makes a meowing noise. £8 for a pencil sharpener is expensive I grant you, but quite a good present for a cat lover!

RickOShay · 01/12/2019 11:08

Also got her some Snag tights, they are supposed to be super comfortable.

jamrollyolly · 01/12/2019 11:08

You can get socks on amazon that make your feet look like cat paws! Those beanies with a torch built in are great.

BadMoon · 01/12/2019 14:08

So far I have for dd:

'Go away I'm reading' socks
Badge of a cat sitting on a book
Tote bag with 'book nerd' on it
Dracula note book.

All of the above came from Literary Gift Company.

I'm also getting some in ear head phones, Body Shop body spray and loads of chocolate!

FredaNerkk · 01/12/2019 14:19

super ideas! Thanks!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 01/12/2019 15:19
