I am wondering if anyone has any ideas for a gift for a woman in her 40's that does not include food or cosmetics, creams, perfumes etc.?
I would be most grateful for ideas, thanks xx

Sheepskin slippers
New Winter fleece - Jack Wolfskin have some nice ones
Leather gloves
Jo Malone / White company candle
Kindle Paperwhite
Waterstones voucher
Pandora bracelet / charms
Heated fur throw

All budget dependent obviously

As I mentioned on a different thread, my kids got me a fab present - a voucher for an hour’s tuition with a racing driver, then letting me loose in a souped up car on a race circuit!
Maybe your tired mum too would love an adrenaline shot?!

Depends on your relationship but voucher for a massage in a local salon, or hair ( depending on the kind of person they are) . Voucher for a nice cafe so they can treat themselves ?

Babdoc · 30/11/2019 09:11

Crikey, Nearlyadoctor, sheepskin slippers and a heated fur throw?
Seriously? The woman is 40, not 90!
I’m in my 60’s, and I’d have been insulted if my kids had got me those instead of my “racing driver experience” present!

PotteringAlong · 30/11/2019 09:15

Babysit.

Nearlyadoctor · 30/11/2019 09:18

@Babdoc - who says the Op is buying for her mother ?
I have Ugg slippers and love them, also the most beautiful heated faux fur throw which I bought in Finland, which I use if I’m either home alone and don’t want to light the wood burners or turn the heating on, or occasionally late summer before the aga is lit. The rest of the year it’s over the back of one of the sofas and actually most people gravitate towards that sofa as it so soft.

Nearlyadoctor · 30/11/2019 09:18

And I’m 42!!

xmasfudge · 30/11/2019 09:22

Oops, sorry, this is for a friend who is a Mum but having a really rough time with teens ate present. I should have thought about what I was writing , sorry!!

Does she have any hobbies / interests that you know of. Ie would she appreciate a voucher for local stables for a ride etc in peace?

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 30/11/2019 09:26

A Costa coffee voucher and a book so she can escape and have some peace & quiet?
I'd like a voucher for a massage or facial but not sure that's appropriate given your no-toiletries

solittletime · 30/11/2019 10:20

I actually hope to get a nice meaty coffee shop voucher for Christmas. I’d use it for lots of moments to sneak a treat here and there, minus the guilt of spending too much on treating myself. For the right person I think it’s a great present

Bluewavescrashing · 30/11/2019 10:22

Heated throw
Champagne
Afternoon tea voucher
Massage voucher

Leeds2 · 30/11/2019 10:35

Handbag, or purse.
Candle.
Christmas flowers.

BedraggledBlitz · 30/11/2019 11:53

I would like something to look forward to that takes me away from the home worries, like cinema and meal with you (assuming you are local friends that see each other).

JoGoes · 30/11/2019 11:55

I’d like a voucher for a coffee shop, or maybe a nice day out with afternoon tea or something along those lines

Busybeebeebee · 30/11/2019 12:03

Spa vouchers for sure!

Jins · 30/11/2019 12:57

I’m a bit older than your target recipient and of all the suggestions so far the only one I’d like is to be taken out for cinema or a meal.

Spa vouchers would be donated to a raffle, no need for warm stuff as we tend to have our own internal heat sources, afternoon tea on your own is a bit tragic.

Don’t get her a job. Don’t give her something that she has to find time to use. Take her out for a bit of fun

Courtney555 · 30/11/2019 13:31

@xmasfudge

Would she prefer to get out of the house do you think, or would she prefer something luxury to enjoy in the house?

Angelinthenightx · 30/11/2019 14:25
